    Zambia Bursaries Committee

    The first point of call for many in Zambia will be the Zambia Bursaries Committee. The Zambian Ministry of Education states that the mission of the Zambia Bursaries Committee is to “administer bursaries, loans, scholarships and fellowships for tertiary education locally and abroad.” The key functions of the Zambia Bursaries Committee include the assessment of students eligibility to study in Zambia as well as abroad and to process and administer GRZ bursaries and loans for students at the University of Zambia and the Copperbelt University. For more information on student loans, bursaries and scholarships available from the Zambia Bursaries Committee visit: Zambia Bursaries Committee

     

    United States Scholarship Information

    According to the website of the Embassy of the United States in Zambia the United States Government does not offer any scholarships for international students studying as undergraduates.  Exceptional Zambian graduate or post graduate students are however encouraged to apply for the Fulbright Fellowship Program, which is directly funded by the United States Government. Those that are interested in studying in the USA should check the financial aid available from the individual colleges and universities to which they might want to apply as this is where much of the financial support is provided. Also, be aware that most scholarships in the USA are  merit-based meaning that they are only given to students with the best academic scores.

     

    United Kingdom Scholarship Information

    The British Council provides a list of scholarships available to those interested in studying in the UK. Go Zambia Jobs recently checked the Education in the UK website and found 3,319 scholarships or bursaries available to international students.     Canada Scholarship Information

    Awards available to foreign students for study and research in Canada can be found on the website of the Government of Canada. It provides a searchable list of scholarships available to Zambians interested in studying in Zambia. We recently searched their website and found nearly 20 scholarship opportunities available to Zambian and other international students.

     

    Australia Scholarship Information

    Those interested in studying in Australia can find more information on Study in Australia. This government run website provides lots of useful information regarding studying in Australia. You can also search the list of scholarship opportunities available to Zambians. When we searched the list of scholarships available to Zambians we found over 750 scholarship opportunities available.

     

    Sweden Scholarship Information

    The Study in Sweden website provides information to those interested in studying in Sweden. The website states that the Swedish Institute provides over 500 scholarships each year. In addition, it states that some universities may offer scholarships directly to high-performing students. We recently searched the list of scholarships available and found that the Swedish Institute Study Scholarship and the Guest Scholarship Program were available to Zambians as well as other international students.

     

    Japan Scholarship Information

    China Scholarship Information

    CUCAS (China’s University and College Admission System) provides information to those interested in studying in China. We searched the list of CUCAS Scholarships and found 6 organisations providing scholarship places in China.

     

    Rhodes Scholarship Information

    The Rhodes Scholarship website states that “The Rhodes Scholarships are postgraduate awards supporting outstanding all-round students at the University of Oxford, and providing transformative opportunities for exceptional individuals.” Each year  83 Rhodes Scholars are selected from 14 countries or groupings of countries around the world. For more information visit: Applying for the Rhodes Scholarship

     

    The Beit Trust Scholarship Information

    The Beit Trust website states that “The Beit Trust offers annually a small number of Scholarships abroad for postgraduate studies or research to graduates who are domiciled in Malawi, Zambia or Zimbabwe (the beneficial area).  Scholarships are taken up at a university in the United Kingdom, Ireland or South Africa, for study in a subject of the individual’s choice appropriate to the needs of the beneficial area.”

     

    Scholarships 4 Development Information

    Another method of searching for scholarships is through online scholarship listing website. Scholarships 4 Development is a one such website that provides details of scholarships available worldwide. Zambians interested in finding a scholarship can search for scholarships for Zambians and filter the scholarships by level of study, field of study and place of study. We recently searched www.scholars4dev.com found numerous worldwide scholarship opportunities open to Zambians as well as other international students.
