Assistant Internal Auditor

The LUSAKA APEX MEDICAL UNIVERSITY (LAMU) is a privately owned University, registered under the Higher Education Act No. 4 of 2013. LAMU is regulated by the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ), General Nursing Council (GNC), Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority (TEVETA) and other regulatory authorities approved under the Law in addition to the Higher Education Authority.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following position:

ASSISTANT INTERNAL AUDITOR (1 Position):

Role Definition-:

To carry out internal Audit activities to ensure that all transactions conform to acceptable standards, principles and financial regulations and within established policies and procedures.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Executes both operational and compliance audits based on appropriate internal audit methodology to ensure compliance to regulatory authority and to strengthen internal audit controls.
• Monitors payments deadlines to safeguard against penalties, and meeting institutional contractual obligations.
• Evaluates key internal controls to ascertain their adequacy in preventing fraud and errors.
• Ensures that all audit work undertaken is adequately documented as a point of reference.
• Communicates audit progress to superior and keep him/her abreast of all findings to enable effective evaluation of the institution’s income and expenditure as well as adherence to set standards and procedures.
• Participates in the preparation of internal audit unit’s annual budget proposals, including estimates of costs associated with the Unit’s operations.

Essential Qualifications:

• Full Grade Twelve (12)/ Or 5 GCE ‘O’ level Certificate.
• First Degree in Accountancy, Level II ACCA/ CIMA Management Level/ ZICA Licentiate, CIA an added advantage or its equivalent with 2- 5 years’ work experience..
• Between 25 to 40 years of Age
• Strong oral and written communication skills;
• Must demonstrate the highest level of integrity and honesty
• Must be fully paid up member of ZICA
