1.0 DEPARTMENT/SECTION: Finance Department

2.0 RESPONSIBLE TO: Finance Manager

3.0 RESPONSIBLE FOR: Assistant Accountant and Accounts Assistants

4.0 LIAISON WITH:

Senior Procurement Officer, Commercial Service Manager, Technical Manager, Human Resource and Administration Manager, Project Engineer, Public Relations Officer, O&M Engineer and Internal Auditor.

5.0 PURPOSE OF JOB:

To plan, coordinate and implement the objectives and procedures of the general accounts operations in order to provide accurate and up to date financial information to management.

6.0 DUTIES:

(i) To prepare weekly and monthly cash flow statements for management or plan for cash flows.

(ii) To Check and verify all payments to ensure that they have required accompanying documents and for correctness and approvals before processing payments

(iii)  To ensure payment of salaries and statutory obligations (PAYE, NAPSA) are paid before due dates.

(iv) To maintain all tax computations in separate files namely; corporate tax files, Value Added Tax file; Pay as You Earn file; Withholding Tax; and any other tax affecting the Company prescribed by the statutes of tax regulation.

(v) To ensure timely payments in general and payments to suppliers when funds are available based on the planned sequence.

(vi) To ensure that day to day transactions are posted into the Pastel Activity System and the Trial balance is availed to Financial Manager for decision making

(vii) To Supervise, appraise, coaches, trains, disciplines and motivates subordinates in order to achieve unit objectives thereby contribute to achievement of Company objectives and overall WWSC mandate.

(viii) To ensure that payments done are tracked with their budgets lines to check for variations and advise management for action.

7.0 QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

(i) Grade 12 certificate

(ii) Full professional accounting qualification such as ZICA, ACCA or CIMA

(iii) Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy (added advantage)

(iv)  Minimum 3 years relevant experience

(v) Computer literacy in excel, word, power point and access

(vi) Member of ZICA

(vii) Knowledge of any accounting package is a must preferably PASTEL accounting system

(viii) Experience in a water and sewerage utility Company(added advantage)

8.0 OTHER ATTRIBUTES

(iii) Sober minded  (maturity)

(iv) Able to work in a busy environment with minimum supervision.
