POSITION: GENERAL MANAGER – (1)

LOCATION: AFRICORP HEALTH CARE – LUSAKA

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

Africorp is a healthcare company with offices in Zambia. We are looking to recruit a General Manager – Healthcare for its Zambia operations.

The ideal candidate must lead the overall business management involved in healthcare business & developing a partnership with healthcare facilities in planning and strategizing in developing a project and working closely with the Ministry of Health in terms of implementing it.

The Organization seeks a suitably qualified, techno-commercial high-energy performer with drive, to fill the above varied and challenging position, responsible for all the organization business Profit and Loss in Zambia.  Reporting to the shareholders of the organization. This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic growing business and carries a very broad range of responsibilities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Execute the strategy to drive profitable growth for the total solutions portfolio in Zambia and achieve the financial goals for revenue, operating income and other efficiency and profitability metrics as determined by the operating plan.

  • Lead all complete business structure focusing on Sales & Service growth and improve profitability.
  • Represent the company in the country at all levels within the Healthcare Customer base.
  • Ensure aligned and integrated policies and practices (Finance, HR, etc.) whilst driving the right organizational design and expense controls.
  • Coach the Sales, Sales support, Service and / or Marketing teams to higher margins and gather a deep understanding of both customer needs and the organization’s cost structure.
  • Strategize on the future development of the various segments in the market by identifying potential market niches and avenues for growth
  • Interacting with the Organization Equipment Suppliers, Product Support Teams, Service Support Teams & Healthcare customer base etc.- maximizing customer satisfaction
  • To setup and execute appropriate & profit focused strategies within Zambia & develop the business to other SADC countries.

Qualifications Required: 

  • Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate or its equivalent
  • Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Technology, Masters of Engineering, Masters of Technology or equivalent in either Medical Electronics, Biomedical or Instrumentation.
  • Over 10 years’ experience in the Medical Device industry & at least over 5 years of experience in general management and a leadership role
  • Strong understanding of both Sales & Service Functions in Healthcare Industry
  • Familiarity with the health care system, an excellent understanding of the dynamics of decision-making process in hospitals, and a good understanding of purchasing groups of key accounts.
  • Be able to build effective relationships with key decision makers;
  • Have strong leadership skills as well as managerial skills;
  • Have very good communication skills with the ability to motivate teams;
  • Be computer literate (Excel, Internet, Word, and PowerPoint);
  • Have the ability to work under pressure and still maintain high standards;
  • Be a self-starter, deadline and results oriented;
  • Resolve and troubleshoot complex sales and services issues of customers.
  • Build relationships with customers through follow-up of services.
  • Perform competitor products and services analysis.
  • Handling Discipline and Grievances.
  • Experience in successfully managing International Funded projects
  • Proven ability to establish strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders including government representatives, non-profit organizations, donors, media, academic and research institutes and other stakeholders.
