The job holder will lead the formulation and deployment of alternative distribution strategy for the business as well as deliver on overall budget imperatives with respect to customer acquisition, channel productivity, profitability, and return on investment. The job holder will also establish, grow and maintain the relationship portfolio of bancassurance and alternative distribution partners while also maintaining responsibility for full sales cycle, from opportunity identification through to negotiation and closure of sales.

Job Description

Strategy development and execution: Lead the development and deployment of channels strategy and integrating them into production and well as negotiate commercial terms and service level agreements with intermediaries and distribution partners
Financial Performance and Business Development Management: Deliver on overall budget imperatives with respect to sales, channel productivity, revenue, value of new business, and profitability; ensuring full realisation of business case for each channel within agreed timelines
Relationship Management: Initiate and maintain professional relationships and networks with distribution partners, industry leaders,regulators, internal stakeholders and role players that are key in the development and optimisation of alternative channels
Risk, Governance and Control: Ensure that distribution channels are deployed and operate in full compliance with regulatory requirements and the Groups internal policies, procedures, and overall Risk Management Framework
Operations and People Management: Oversee the talent resourcing as well as activities of the Bancassurance and Alternative Distribution team to ensure effective delivery of the business plan.

Candidate Specification

Experience: 7 years
Education Level: Degree
Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in any Commercial Discipline. Certificate in Insurance. An MBA is preferred but not a pre-requisite
Software: Full MS Office
Equipment: None

Knowledge Of: Insurance products and processes, regulatory requirements, customer segmentation and needs, bancassurance and distribution channel strategies
Skills To: Managerial experience in a business development and relationship management role in insurance, banking or other financial services sector
Ability To: Manage projects, network, manage stakeholders, evaluate performance, negotiate
Personality: Values Driven; Innovative; Strategic; Leader
Other: A proven track record of delivering on targets and key business imperatives.
