Norwegian Church Aid, DanChurchAid and Christian Aid are three faith based International Non-Govemmental Organisations working closely with partners in Zambia through the Joint Country Programme (JCP) for Zambia.

Our programmes focus on Gender Justice (including gender-based violence), Economic Empowerment, Resource Governance and Emergency Preparedness and Response, JCP invites applications for a 4-month fixed-term position as Human Resources Consultant, with immediate start-up, focusing on the recruitment of +20 staff to a new grants project. In carrying out the task the HR Consultant shall oversee various aspects such as compliance with labor laws, employment standards, and employee benefits. The HR Consultant is expected to be a team player and flexible to adapt to the needs and requirements of the task. A highly responsible, self-motivated person to work under minimum supervision is required for this position. The Consultant shall be based at our Country Offce in Lusaka with travels to Luapula Province.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage recruitment procedures, including preparation of job descriptions and advertisements in coordination with the Senior Management Team (SMT) and the Gender Justice Program Coordinator.
  • Ensure advertisements are widely publicized, candidates are screened, and interviews are arranged for selected candidates.
  • Lead in the shortlisting of applicants together with relevant staff.
  • Participate in recruitment interviews and advice on the selection of candidates.
  • Advice on the methods of rating and reviewing of applicants.
  • Ensure appropriate references are obtained for all new recruitments.
  • Prepare offer letters and employment contracts for successful candidates and inform unsuccessful candidates.
  • Ensure all new staff sign the job description, the Code of Conduct and the Agreement on Professonal Secrecy.
  • Ensure copies of CV, academic qualifications, interview notes, references and any other relevant documentation are maintained in the personal files pursuant to Zambian labour law.
  • Ensure all recruitrnents conform to Government of Zambia legislation and the NCA Staff Handbook.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly understand crucial elements of the project and advise accordingly
  • Build office capacity in recruitment

Key qualifications and exponce:

  • University Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or a relevant field preferably at Masters’ level
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience with HR and Business Administration issues
  • Member of Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM) an advantage.
  • Documented experience working with digital analysis and tools.
