IT Technician



The Information Technology Technician is responsible for installing and maintaining GSM group IT infrastructure, software, networks and surveillance systems. The Candidate will also be working with subcontracts and will be the contact person for all ICT related issues.


The Information Technology Technician reports to the Assistant IT Manager and provides hardware and software maintenance, monitoring, training and consultation, and recommendations about future planning and development of resources. They are also responsible for computer and network related issues. The ideal candidate should be capable of providing the above-mentioned services in an effective and efficient manner that will ensure maximum access to and implementation of technological services and resources.


1. Ensure technology is accessible and equipped with current hardware and software

a. Troubleshoot hardware, software and network and operating system
b. Be familiar with all hardware and software Applications
c. Be familiar with networks and CCTV connectivity
d. Provide orientation to new users of existing technology
e. Train staff about potential uses of existing technology, security and threats.
f. Provide individual training and support on request
g. Provide recommendations about accessing information and support
h. Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and resources

2. Monitor and maintain technology to ensure maximum access

a. Troubleshoot all technology issues
b. Manage backups and maintain back up schedules
c. Maintain log and/or list of required repairs and maintenance
d. Make recommendations about purchase of technology resources
e. Research current and potential resources and services
f. Research current and future technological threats
g. Provide network access to all staff
h. Install work stations
i. Connect and set up hardware (CCTV, Printers, work stations Access control, Access points)
j. Load all required software
k. Monitor security of all technology
l. Input and maintain IP addresses
m. Ensure installation of lock out programs
n. Identify and prepare hardware for disposal when appropriate
o. Ensure hardware is stripped and secured before disposal

3. SAP support

a. Provide basic SAP B1 supports
b. SAP user management

4. Monitor and Maintain Users And provide direct Assistance to Users

a. Maintain user accounts is Active directory
b. Offer SAP users with basic user maintenance issues
c. Ensure antivirus is up to date on all workstations
d. Respond to help desk request, emails and calls
e. Offer remote support to remote users
f. Provide network accounts and passwords as required
g. Install and maintain Foolproof and passwords
h. Advise staff of security breach and/or change in password or security status

5. Help desk Support

a. Respond to help ICT desk queries within limited time
b. Offer remote support to help quires
c. Update ICT helpdesk knowledge database
d. Escalate help desk issues
e. Close or solve all open tickets

6. Basic System Administration

a. System Back up


1. Diploma in IT or Related Field (A Degree in IT or related field would be an added advantage)

2. Candidates certified with following ICT professional certificated could also be considered

a. CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate)
b. SAP B1
c. MSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer)
