Lubambe Copper Mine

JOB OPPORTUNITY

Lubambe Copper Mine is located within the Greater Konkola Area of the Zambian Copperbelt and consists of a large – scale mining license covering an area of approximately 240 square kilometres. The mine is a modern, world class facility with fully mechanized underground operations.

Lubambe Copper Mines is owned by EMR Capital of Australia (80%) and ZCCM – Investments Holdings (20%).

The Mine is currently in a ramp up stage and will ultimately produce 45,000 tonnes of contained copper and will employ approximately 2,000 people. The Plant infrastructure consists of a Concentrator plant, a laboratory and underground infrastructure. The Concentrator incorporates crushing, milling, flotation and filtration. The design capacity is 2.5 MTPA of ore at an average mill grade of 2.2% copper, yielding 45,000 tonnes of contained copper in concentrate to be sold to smelter in Zambia.

Lubambe Copper Mine seeks to employ experienced and qualified individuals in the following position:

 MEDICAL DOCTOR (X1)

This position reports to the SHE Manager

Core Purpose of the Position

To provide competent patient centred care that addresses health needs and promotes wellness by providing skilled health assessment, diagnosis and treatment services to patients through the application of medical knowledge and demonstration of compassion, professionalism and respect.

Key Performance Areas/Indicators (KPA/Is):

  • Ordering diagnostic test as needed, checking and informing patients of results in a timely manner.
  • Referring patients appropriately to other providers if their needs exceed the range of care you are able to provide
  • Consulting and collaborating with colleagues to provide optimal care
  • Documenting all care provided and education/information given to patients within their health record as per professional and company standards
  • To maintain good medical practice maintaining professional knowledge and standards through continuing medical education, and more formal academic education and personal professional development.
  • Monitor the medical activities, analyse them in the context, with a public health approach and make propositions of possible evolution if necessary
  • Providing services courteously and respectfully with regard to the cultural beliefs and needs of patients
  • Has an obligation to contribute and monitor the quality of the disinfection and sterilisation process of the material and medical equipment

Academic Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB)
  • Must have a valid practising licence and registered with HPCZ
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience
  • Able to multi task and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication, leadership and administrative skills, and commitment to team work
  • Understanding of the manner in which the hospital services interconnect
  • Understanding of quality issues surrounding the provision of a medicine distribution service, and the training of technicians providing this service.
