PROCUREMENT INTERN

Jhpiego is offering three months Internship, the Intern will work in the Procurement Unit under the supervision of the Senior Procurement Officer. The Intern will be required to support the function with the following responsibilities:

  • Request for quotations for submitted requests from the Program Units.
  • Ensure Purchase orders are reviewed and approved.
  • Ensure all Purchase orders and Jhpiego terms are signed for by Vendors.
  • Maintain records for all procured items which include all supporting documentation.
  • Work in close collaboration with Stores Officer to ensure goods are verified, received and project staff are informed.
  • Work with Finance to ensure value added tax Purchase orders are submitted to all vendors.
  • Work in collaboration with other members of the Procurement and Finance team.
  • Adhere to Jhpiego personnel and fraud management policies.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in procurement, or any related field and a minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • General understanding of the procurement process as outlined by ZPPA.
  • Understanding of USG procurement regulations will be an added advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented person with good organizational skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication and presentation skills in English.
  • Proficiency in common computer packages, MS Word and Excel and use of databases.
  • A self-starter with initiative and self-motivation required, with commitment to teamwork.
  • Experience working with an NGO preferred.
  • Must be a practicing member of Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
