JOB OPPORTUNITIES

The Electoral Commission of Zambia seeks to recruit qualified and experienced Zambian nationals to fill the following position:

STORES CONTROLLER

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To effectively manage inventory through the development and utilization of systems and procedures that ensures the availability of materials for smooth operations of the Commission.

REPORTING ACCOUNTABILITY

This is a middle management position reporting to the Chief Accountant.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages the operations of the Commission’s Inventory Management System through the management of stock parameters to effectively control stocks and avoid overstocking, stock outs and ensure correct usage at all times.
  • Plans and coordinates the replenishment of stock materials to ensure smooth operations of the Commission.
  • Carries out spot checks to verify accuracy of stock records and ensures that inventories are secure and safe to prevent losses/damages.
  • Designs and reviews stores record keeping systems for the efficient management of stock at the Commission.
  • Reviews and recommends identified redundant and obsolete stocks for disposal.
  • Prepares and produces periodic reports on the operations of the stores section for management’s decision making.
  • Contributes to the development and review of Stores Procedures Manual to ensure compliance and efficiency of stores management.
  • Assists in the preparation of annual budgets and procurement planning for all stock items to meet the Commission’s annual operational requirements.
  • Performs any other related duties that the supervisor may reasonably request form time to time.

ACADEMIC AND PROFESSION QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

(a) Full Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent with credits or better

(b) Degree in Purchasing & Supply; Business Administration; Economics or Commerce with Graduate Diploma – Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply.

(c) Certification in SAP MM Inventory Management.

(d) Must be a fully paid up member to relevant professional bodies.

(e) Three (3) years relevant post qualification experience with a bias in purchasing and supply.

(f) Experience in a quasi-government institution will be an added advantage.

(g) Strong ICT skills.
