PURPOSE
This position exists to ensure that all rigging tasks based on, installation, maintenance/repairs/replacement of all equipment is done safely and efficiently. This role requires a lot of complex and specialized lifting skills and experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Health and Safety
Follow written safe procedures
Wear correct PPE for each specific task
Ensure that all safety procedures are followed as per training and site specific standards
Ensure emergency preparedness from all team members
Report and record unsafe acts, conditions and incidents
Maintenance Services
Punctual adherence to site specific time schedule/shift times
Safekeeping of tools
Implement maintenance schedules
Maintenance of all lifting tackle
Maintains/repairs all rigging equipment
Conduct plant inspection on all key lifting equipment installations
Identifies and prioritise equipment in need of maintenance/repairs and certification
Plans down time repairs/maintenance & project work
Formulate complex lifting plans
Conduct repairs/maintenance
Technical Responsibilities
Perform pre-engineering studies in order to undertake rigging activities
Perform rope splicing
Mobile crane inspection and maintenance coordination
Plan, organize and control the erection, alteration and dismantling of load-bearing scaffolding
Sling complex loads and communicate during crane operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Grade Twelve(12) School Certificate
Craft Certificate in Rigging
EIZ Membership
EXPERIENCE
2 years experience in any of the following fields: Mining/construction/transport/plant hire or manufacturing.
