WORKSHOP FOREMAN

Purpose of position

The servicing and repairs for all company heavy duty machinery and vehicles according to procedure. Ensure that all assigned tasks (jobs) are completed in an accurate and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, assign and supervise mechanical works of machinery and vehicle servicing and repairs and ensure planned tasks (jobs) and emergency tasks are completed in a satisfactory manner. Perform tests so as to ensure all planned tasks are have met reliability standards. Obtain Operations manager sign off.
  • Account for man hours and spares utilized by the generation of work orders on accounting system. Ensure all records filed.
  • Ensure all tools are accounted for and returned after use.
  • Daily inspections on all fleet machinery and equipment, according to checklist.
  • Repair and service mechanical works of generator sets, machinery and vehicles and ensure planned tasks (jobs) and emergency tasks are completed in a satisfactory manner. Perform tests so as to ensure all planned tasks are have met reliability standards. Obtain Operations manager sign off.
  • Receive reports of faults from drivers. Perform fault finding and identification tasks which are added into the Repair and service schedule.
  • Attend to breakdown immediately and ensure serious accidents are reported to authorities and company senior management.
  • Draw spares from stores according to procedure.
  • Ensure all tools are accounted for and returned after use.
  • Ensure workshop and surroundings are always clean and tidy.

Qualification & Experience

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate
  • Degree or Diploma in Heavy Duty Mechanics / Mechanical Technology / Mechanical Engineering from a recognized college/University.
  • Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia.
