We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Knowledge Manager to join our elite team at ZIPAR. In this role, you will work closely with the Executive Director to enhance stakeholder engagement and advocate for evidence-based policies. Job Purpose
The Knowledge Manager is responsible for conceptualizing, planning, and managing ZIPAR’s internal and external knowledge management and communications. This pivotal role involves close collaboration with research fellows, serving as the knowledge management and communications advisor for various strategic initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and drive strategy and message development for high profile research projects including Flagship Annual Analysis of the National Budget;
- Work with Research Fellows to devise communications plans for research projects;
- Conduct audience research and develop a deep understanding
- Conceptualize, plan and implement policy engagement meetings with policy makers;
- Track and measure the level of engagement with policy makers over time and conceptualize new innovative tools and communication channels;
- Manage the development of all print materials including, but not limited to ZIPAR Quarterly newsletters, reports, policy briefs, brochures and flyers;
- Build on existing and develop new relationships with Media News Editors, key decision makers, policy influencers and other key stakeholders;
- Manage press queries, drafting press releases, editing and drafting articles and blogs;
- Identify communications opportunities and threats and advise researchers;
- Develop and write scripts for radio and TV programmes;
- Coordinate webpage maintenance; ensure that new and consistent information is posted regularly;
- Coordinate and organize annual economic conferences that engage a large network of development researchers and policy makers; and
- Support Management in effective internal communications.
Required Attributes and Competences
- Proven ability to work with web-based and social media platforms;
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), in English;
- Proven ability to develop, write, and edit technical content for both print publications and the web
- Demonstrated managerial, organizational skills and versatility in a dynamic space with tight deadlines;
- Proven ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with operations team members, government, and partners; and
- Familiarity with communications artificial intelligence preferred.
Qualifications and Experience
- Full Grade 12 Certificate;
- Bachelor’s Degree in either Journalism, Communication, Economics or Business Administration;
- Master’s Degree in either Journalism, Communication, Economics or Business Administration preferpreferrd
- Five years’ experience in a similar position.
