Seed Co Zambia Limited requires a Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality (SHEQ) Manager with the following skills and competencies: System Implementation, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, SHEQ training, SHEQ auditing, incident investigation & management.

Job Description:

  • Implement the safety policies, guidelines and procedures as set out by the Seed Co Group
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant SHEQ legislation & regulations, Seed Co Group requirements and certification standard requirements.
  • Promote safe working practices and participate in the identification of hazards, evaluating the risk
  • Develop and implement a plan to correct or prevent or minimize exposure and audit the plan to ensure its effectiveness.
  • Participate and Coordinate SHEQ Reviews and Management of Change Reviews
  • Coordinate and schedule internal & external audits and inspections to ensure compliance with SHEQ guidelines
  • Maintain records of audits, inspections, reports, certifications, permits, etc. related to SHEQ
  • Develop and monitor corrective action lists to address shortfalls and improvements.
  • Report incidents and lead incident investigations.
  • Develop, monitor and track performance indices and report

This position interacts with the following:

Internal –

  • All functions within the company’s value chain Research & Development, Product Development, Product Management, Foundation & Parent Seed, Production & Processing, Warehousing, Human Resources, Quality, Finance & Administration, Sales & Marketing

External –

  • Seed regulating bodies and government departments, national & international bodies with SHEQ management mandate

Qualifications

Academic qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Environment Health, Environmental Sciences or Related field
  • A relevant Masters Degree will be an added advantage
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience at Management level
  • Must possess a clean and valid drivers licence
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Powerpoint)
