ActionAid Zambia is pleased to announce the call for proposals under the SIDA supported Strengthening Civil Society Effectiveness in Promoting Good Governance and Increasing Citizen’s Awareness and Demand for Human Rights in Zambia project. for Local CSOs in Zambia.
The average contribution is expected to be in the range of ZMW 5,000- ZMW1,000,000 per project per year. Larger projects may be considered on an exceptional basis. The average duration of a project is 3 months up to 3 years, with all project activities to be completed by October 31, 2021.
I. Eligibility Criteria
- Please note that most of funding is to be directed toward local civil society organizations (including Non-Governmental Organizations, Social Movements and Community Action Groups) working at the local level.
- Project proposals with national reach will be eligible for the call where relevant.
- Please note that infrastructure projects will not be considered under this call.
- The call is always looking to fund innovative projects which deliver measurable results.

II. Thematic priorities
The Fund will grant applications in the areas that address identified needs of the target areas that fall within one or more of the priorities listed below;
- Enhance citizens’ civic participation and state accountability for improved governance and public service delivery in Zambia.
- Support CSOs interventions which promote transparency and prudent public resource management through citizens awareness and demand for accountability.
- Strengthen the capacities of citizens in their role in protecting the environment as well as holding government accountable on the enforcement of policies and regulations for sustainable Natural Resource (NR) management and climate justice.
- Strengthen the capacity of citizens to demand for implementation of policies and programmes to promote inclusiveness, accessibility, accountability and quality of health services.
III. Gender and Human Rights
In line with the efforts to advance gender equality and human rights, each applicant is required to show gender mainstreaming and human rights based approach to programming as part of their application.

- Complete the project application and budget formswith necessary details about project activities and spending. Note that only complete applications will be considered.
