Call for Applications – MSc and PhD Studies 2018

Introduction

The African Centre of Excellence Infectious Diseases of Humans and Animals (ACEIDHA) was recently established at the University of Zambia (UNZA), School of Veterinary Medicine, with a loan obtained by the Zambian Government from the World Bank. The mandate of the Centre is to deliver high quality research and training to smart, motivated and ambitious scientists from the African continent, so as to reduce the critical shortage of skilled human resource in the prevention and control of infectious diseases on the continent.

In line with the University of Zambia strategic plan, ACEIDHA is committed to the principle of gender equality and equal opportunities for individuals with physical disabilities and disadvantaged backgrounds (We believe in equal opportunities for all).

ACEIDHA is looking for young African scientists to pursue postgraduate training under the following
themes:

1. Emerging and zoonotic viral diseases
2. Emerging and zoonotic bacterial diseases including antimicrobial resistance
3. Neglected tropical diseases
4. Vector-borne zoonotic diseases

PhD

Applicants for PhD scholarship must possess an MSc in relevant fields from a recognised University at the time of applying, Their envisaged area of study must be in line with the above themes.

MSc by research

Applicants for an MSc scholarship by research must possess a bachelods degree in relevant fields from a recognised University. Their envisaged area of study must be in line with the above themes Taught MSc Programmes

1. Msc One Health Analytical Epidemiology
2. MSc One Health Food Safety

Scholarship Modalities and Sponsorship

Scholarship opportunities are available on a competitive basis for eligible female and male candidates from all African countries.

Interested candidates must submit completed applications, which must include a completed application form for admission, two academic references forms, one professional reference form, certified copies of academic certificates and transcripts of results and a concept note (not exceeding more than 1000 words i.e. about two pages, for candidates wishing to pursue a PhD programme and MSc by research) to:
