Help! How can I polish up my CV?

Dear Aunty,

I wish to seek your help on how I can polish up my curriculum vitae as I seek a job once again having been recently laid off!

I’m a diploma holder with close to ten years banking experience, surely a job should be out there waiting!

What are the key things I should work on!

Thanking you in advance.

Aunty says,

I am sorry to hear that you have recently lost your job. Unemployment can affect people in different ways but I am pleased that you are already thinking about what you can do to improve your curriculum vitae (CV) in order to find another job.

One word of caution I would add is that jobs do not wait for people in Zambia – competition is extremely fierce so you will need to make sure that you do all you can to impress.

The most important thing is to ensure that you alter each CV or application to show how you meet the requirements for the job AND the organisation. Remember that a generic CV sent to employers with little thought or effort is unlikely to result in a job offer.

You can find lots of useful tips and advice on the Go Zambia Jobs website. Below are some of the articles that I would strongly suggest you to read:

I hope that this information will be of use to you and wish you all the best with your job search.
