Our company is seeking to hire a suitably qualified and experienced candidate to fill up the position of Agronomist/Extension Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting soil analysis and providing recommendations for soil improvement and fertility management.
  • Preparing plans and schedules for planting and harvesting and ensuring contracted farmers understand expectations.
  • Developing and implementing integrated pest management (IPM) strategies to control pests and diseases effectively.
  • Staying updated with the latest agronomic research and technological advancements to enhance farm productivity.
  • Conducting field trials and experiments to evaluate new crop varieties, fertilizers, and farming techniques.
  • Visiting the different areas of contracted farmers to inspect crops and perform tests on soil where applicable.
  • Coordinating the farmers during the harvest period and managing the collection of produce to the relevant warehouses as advised from time to time by senior management.
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate records, reports, and documentation related to agronomic activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Certificate in Agronomy, General Agriculture, Soil Science, or a related field from a reputable Institution. A Diploma is preferred.
  • Proven experience in agronomy, crop management (Legumes), or agricultural research.
  • Strong knowledge of plant biology, soil health, crop nutrition, and pest management.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make recommendations.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with farmers, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Must have intensive 3-5 years proven work experience in loan out grower scheme/loan recovery.
  • Must be able to ride a motorbike.
