Job Description

The successful candidate will be someone with a good degree of organisational skill, can handle a number of administrative and logistical tasks at once, is used to working on implementation sites and has good interpersonal skills due to the requirement to work alongside civil and electrical technicians and engineers. Having an interest or a background in STEM based subjects would be a valuable asset to the role.

Reporting
The ARC Assistant (ARCA) will report directly to the ARC Lead (ARCL) with a side reporting line to the International Engineering Lead (IEL).

Team
The ARC Assistant works within the ARC Team, responsible for facilitating and assisting the work of the whole team but in particular that of the ARCL. The ARC Team is responsible for all aspects of the development, engineering, implementation and operation of ARC Power’s ARC generation units (termed ‘ARCs’) and their sites. The ARC Assistant therefore works alongside the team’s technicians under the ARCL’s direction. The ARC Lead also has a reporting line to the Civil Engineering team, responsible for all construction undertaken by ARC Power (AP). It is expected that the ARC Assistant will be a key contact between the ARC Team and the Civils Team to assist the ARC Lead’s management of the work of Civils.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
Assist with site sourcing, selection and specification:
Assist in sourcing site locations for ARC development;
Conduct potential site appraisals and compile reports to assist in providing quality information for site selection;
Assist in the development of methodologies for the design of optimum site positioning and layout;
Assist in the development of comprehensive design documentation and specifications for each site to include site schematics and requirements.

Support the implementation and commissioning of Sites and ARCs:
Work alongside the Civils Teams to ensure site implementation is being completed to design;
Assist in the quality control oversight of the civil works section of site implementation;
Assist the movement of infrastructure and components to site in-line with project planning documentation and manage exceptions;
Ensure that Health and Safety protocols for each ARC and Site are strictly followed by the ARC and Civils Teams.

Assist the operations and maintenance (O&M) of ARCs:
Responsible for ensuring that all ARC sites are well maintained including site cleanliness, security systems are maintained, plants are managed and panels are cleaned;
Assist the development of schedules and optimisation strategies for ARC O&M;
Assist in supporting the established pre-emptive service and Operations, Optimisation and Maintenance (OOM) programmes for ARCs;
Assist the maintenance of ARCs proactively and ad-hoc in response to incidents.

Support procurement for ARCs, supporting equipment and infrastructure required to operate the ARC Team:
Assist the procurement process for each ARC, including supporting such activities required to successfully procure or upgrade an ARC;
Assist with procurement requirements as directed by the Procurement Team;
Assist the maintenance of procurement documentation.

Assist in managing ARC Team infrastructure and assets:
Assist in the development of systems to improve asset management;
Assist in the development of strategies for improving the efficiency of ARC manufacture and management;
Assist in supporting the development of design documentation and procurement requirements for ARC Team infrastructure.

Required Skills:
Essential:
Experience working alongside diverse teams including electrical and civil technicians, as well as rural communities.
Able to demonstrate good levels of judgement, critical thinking, time management, interpersonal skills and multitasking abilities.
Proficient in standard computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite etc.
Excellent level of English language skills.
A willingness to work on sites in rural and remote areas.
Desirable:
Diploma and/or Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering, renewable engineering, solar systems or any other related course.
An understanding of solar energy system implementation, development and operation.
Experience implementing solar generation projects.
Experience implementing small scale civil works projects.
Experience maintaining on site health and safety protocols.
Valid car and/or motorbike driving licence.

Terms of Engagement
Employment Grade
The ARC Lead sits at Grade 5 of ARC Power’s organisational structure. Remuneration will be equivalent to this level, based on experience.

Abbreviated Contract Terms
This is a full time position on an open ended contract with a probationary period of 3 months, potentially extended on review.

Termination
Termination can be at any point during the probation period, and with one month’s notice (for any valid reason) thereafter.

Place of Work
The position is based at ARC Power’s national head office with frequent travel to rural areas including extended stays. The possibility of being based in other regions may be required.
