Job Summary:
The Internal Audit Assistant will be making significant technical contributions to Internal Audit engagements by reviewing and evaluating the operations of Internal Audit clients, identifying improvement opportunities and risk factors from analyzing operational functions, and assessing the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls of management. The assistance of the Internal Audit Assistant will be required with client meetings, where findings and recommendations are discussed by the Internal Audit Manager / Department Head. The Internal Audit Assistant will also be responsible for delivering the highest quality of work before it is submitted.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist the team with evidence to support findings from audits.
- Collate and check that files have all information required.
- Meet entity and Group deadlines for auditing as the 3rd line of defense.
- Raise matters that require attention from senior team members.
- Help to plan an audit, learn, and actively participate in audit assignments.
- Meet internal and external regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with the business to understand needs and proactively provide solutions.
- Assist with finalization of the audit reports.
- Ensure timely execution of field audit work and exit meeting with auditees.
- Assist in the execution of branch and Head Office audits.
- Perform auditing of operations and apply internal audit standards in conducting work.
- Work closely with branch managers and report directly to the head of internal audit.
- Must be willing to travel outside of Lusaka and monitor Branch Offices located in the country (70% of time spent outside the office on branch audits).

- Read, understand, analyse, and interpret legislation, regulations, professional journals, technical procedures, and other relevant materials.
- Effectively respond to questions and present information.
- Apply strong mathematical skills and analytical thinking to solve practical problems.
- Comprehend and interpret oral and written instructions.
- Prioritise tasks and work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
Qualifications:
- Preferably ACCA Level II or ZICA Licentiate, Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Banking and Finance, or any related qualification.
- Background in internal audit within an MFI is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Affiliation to the Zambia Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) will be an added advantage.
