A highly motivated individual is sought for the role of POWER SALES ENGINEER – Lusaka.

Key Outputs and Accountabilities

  • Develop and close sales leads for EP Projects 1MVA or 1MW and above for diesel, gas, HFO, solar PV and energy storage projects
  • Manage the customer liaison during execution of projects
  • Visit consultants and end-users to obtain project opportunities suited to promotion of BWP offerings and to build long term partnerships for extended business
  • Speak the technical language required by the Solutions business to build rapport during all customer and consultant engagements
  • To manage costs, quality and time relevant to job function to deliver worthy customer value propositions
  • Risk review and updating of the quality management plan and enforcing HSE standards & regulations
  • Gather market and competitive intelligence and participate in creating a sustainable business through knowledge creation
  • Commercial and contractual reviews ensuring project deliverables are maintained
  • Effective management reporting primarily in terms of managing opportunity lifecycle and customer engagement
  • Prepare technical and commercial offers and grow order book
  • The Projects Sales engineer must be independent in terms of translating the customer requirements into at least a tentative technical and commercial offering


  • The Projects Sales Engineer should demonstrate proximity and access to senior management in customer organizations as a way of demonstrating effective involvement in project opportunities
  • He/She must engage effectively with the following disciplines within the Solutions team:
    • Legal and Commercial to resolve any risk exposure for the Power business
    • Engineering Design team for accurate final solutions
    • Communicate effectively with Projects Management team ensuring effective liaison with the customer for successful project handover
  • Understand the different categories of price discounts when dealing with OEMs and principal suppliers
  • Be able to participate effectively in risk management processes when dealing with complex contract negotiations
  • Have abilities to make assessments on future pricing of products/solutions through effective liaison with the OEM principal supplier
  • Be able to effectively participate in budget processes through providing realistic revenue projections

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 5 years Sales experience
  • Power Generation
  • Strong knowledge of engine-based and renewable technologies for power
  • Commercial & contractual understanding

  • Experience in low voltage and medium voltage electrical architectures

Minimum Required Competencies:

  • Self-sufficient in terms of building technical solutions and quoting customers
  • Ability to define project scope to Engineering department for firm proposals
  • Strong abilities to defend technical solutions and sell the customer value proposition

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters & Bachelors’ Degree (Electrical/ Mechanical /Industrial Engineering)
  • MBA from a reputable institution
  • Accumulated & consolidated work experience in the industry will also be considered along with a track record of closing deals
