WORKSHOP MANAGER – AUTOMOTIVE

Are you a seasoned automotive professional with a passion for leading a high-performance team? We are seeking an experienced Automotive Workshop Manager to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our automotive workshops.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership:

Lead and manage a team of automotive technicians and support staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

Operational Excellence:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the workshop, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met.
  • Provide technical guidance to maintenance teams.
  • Lead technical recovery, complex fault analysis and testing of bus fleet and systems.

Workflow Management:

  • Coordinate and schedule work orders, prioritize tasks, and optimize workflow to meet deadlines.
  • Manage workshop’s performance in achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Quality Assurance:

  • Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure the highest standards of service and repairs.
  • Lead the overall implementation of bus fleet maintenance regime.
  • Implement improved maintenance regimes to enhance the reliability of bus systems.

Training and Development:

  • Identify training needs and provide ongoing coaching and development opportunities for team members.
  • Review and approve maintenance schedule and manpower plans.
  • Review audits on maintenance, repair and overhaul operations.
  • Manage annual budget for the department.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Engineering, Operations Management, etc.) preferred.
  • Proven experience as an Automotive Workshop Manager or similar role.
    Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostics, and repairs.
  • Specific expertise in Scania and Zhongtong buses is highly desirable.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients and team members.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proven ability to analyze and solve operational challenges.
  • Problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach.
  • Member of Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)
  • Four (4) – Six (6) years’ experience in the industry.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
