Location: Lusaka

Job purpose

To manage and execute communication and marketing strategies for BongoHive on various media for the purpose of projecting and maintaining a positive image of the company, visibility and awareness of company products/services/events to generate public awareness and programme leads.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Communicate, market or advertise company products and services (entrepreneurship programs and masterclasses) weekly on various media to generate leads or provoke interest in public
  • Coordinate and collaborate with media team and/or other departments on weekly tasks, goals, and deliverables associated with communications and marketing.
  • Send out the newsletter for updates and news to community weekly (Mondays).
  • Handle daily walk-in clients and phone calls, respond to incoming company emails and social media messages in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Regularly plan and budget for and lead all marketing events such as demo nights, exhibitions, meetings, launches, and social events.
  • Collaboratively oversee the design and development and dissemination of all marketing material with media team.
  • Conduct quality check on all printing works and promotional materials such as billboards, banners, t-shirts to ensure adherence to branding guidelines for every company project.
  • Handle all press releases, blogs, stories, press event invites for company/partner events and relations.
  • Handle building and maintaining strategic and productive relations with the media to ensure coverage of company news and events.
  • Assist in providing support offices with high-quality information resources including stories, photos, videos and web-based materials for marketing and fundraising purposes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • University Degree in media/communications/marketing/social sciences
  • Experience delivering digital and non-digital campaigns, events for mainstream products and services.
  • Ability to develop and manage marketing strategies and budgets.
  • Experience managing successful social events, social media campaigns, and a solid understanding of social marketing.
  • Working knowledge of Apple, Google, and Microsoft operating systems
  • Proficient use of digital platforms including Google analytics, email marketing, social media, web and content management system-tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication English skills. Excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail.
  • An energetic, analytical and self-starting approach to projects.
  • Experience in the production of diverse and creative marketing and communications materials including brochures, photos, videos, and other visibility materials.
  • Good presentation and negotiation skills, creativity and innovativeness are critical.
  • Proficient in use of digital platforms including Google analytics, email marketing, social media web, and content management system-tools

Membership/Affiliations

Must be a paid member of the Zambia Institute of Marketing (ZIM) or the Zambia Public Relations Association (ZAPRA)

Working conditions

The job requires a person to work occasional weekends, evenings at events,  outdoors such as expos and forums, working with challenging clients, and so forth.
