Functions / Responsibilities:
Adhere to Company Policy and procedures
Ensure that an ongoing understanding of company policies and procedures that affect the execution of your function.
a) Ensure that you have general knowledge of your stock & products so that you can advise customers appropriately.
b) Check that stockholding is “true” before finalising sales, as needed. Do not commit to deliveries – always confirm with dispatch.-“Never over promise ,and under deliver”
c) Ensure you know and action the appropriate procedures for specials & out of stocks.
d) Adhere to the standards of the selling skills course.
e) Ensure that your department is always manned.
f) Carry out after sales follow up.
g) Market awareness
h) Always push for add-on sales to increase basket
i) Sales Targets achieved/ improved on
j) Specialized product knowledge is provided to customers
k) Active selling, Ensure add on products are sold
a) Handle all customers according to the standards in the Interact with Customers course.
b) Cuts flat glass and mirrors to specified size and shape, using patterns, straightedge, tape measure and glass cutting tools: Position pattern on glass or measures dimensions and marks cutting lines using glass cutting tool
c) Scribes around pattern or along straightedge, using cutting tool
d) Breaks away excess glass by hand or with notched tool or glass pinchers.
e) Make smooth or rough edges using belt sander
f) Manually positions sets of cutter heads on bridge or sets controls that position them to score glass into specific dimensions.
g) Remove sharp edges, polish and assemble glass pieces as per job instructions.
h) Conducted quality checks on glass pieces to identify and mark defective glass.
i) Set up, operate and control glass cutting machines and related equipment’s.
j) Prepare and maintain records related to quantity, size and type of glass items produced.
k) Present a positive image to customers, acknowledge, approach & greet customers as required, understand their special needs & respond to their queries as required
l) Meet housekeeping requirements
m) Answer telephone in appropriate manner and assist customers
n) Timeous feedback to customers according to sunset rules
Be accountable for Stock
a) Always be in & around your allocated shelves to prevent theft & breakages.
b) Be aware of your stock situation (fast sellers, slow lines, overstocks, out of stocks, low stock levels).
c) Give feedback to the HOD or Replenishment HOD.
d) Conduct stock counts accurately as required on a regular basis.
e) Where stock items are not on RPL, recommend order quantities to the HOD/ replenishment HOD.
f) Remove damaged or incomplete items from the floor, report them to the HOD & take them to the appropriate place for damages, where they can be recorded & correctly processed.
g) Confirm with HOD or Replenishment HOD for STO’s from a different site.
h) Ensure article code match description before processing
i) Ensure you have specialized knowledge of your stock and products so that you can advise customers
a) Generic Conformance in merchandising standards, where possible – otherwise tidy, logical placement of stock in the yard full shelves
a) Ensure the working environment is neat and tidy: Clean and tidy department
a) Follow correct safety procedures
b) Adhere to safety regulations when working with gas
c) Maintain material handling equipment and report any damage or malfunction of forklifts, bob carts and vehicles to line manager
2 – 3 Years retail sales experience in carpentry timber cutting, sandblasting in a hardware environment,
Computer literate in MS Word, Excel.

- Ability to implement and adhere to established practices related to workplace safety
