YWCA is calling for expression of interest from interested candidates to document success stories/stories of change for the Ending Child Marriage project.

1.0 Introduction

The YWCA Council of Zambia is implementing a project entitled Ending Child Marriage with funding support from the UNFPA. The project is being implemented in Eastern province (Katete and Petauke districts), North Western Province (Solwezi), Lusaka Province (Lusaka) and Luapula province (Milenge and Samfya districts).

The overall goal of the project is to contribute towards ending child marriage among adolescent girls and boys aged 10-19 through lifeskills building and enhanced access to strategic information and services in order to facilitate positive behavior change and enable them to make informed decisions about their health and lives.

The project aims at achieving the following results:

a) Reduced number of children from the participating schools dropping out of school due to child marriage
b) Increased number of children from the participating communities being prevented from entering into child marriage
c) Creation of a supportive environment for girl education in surrounding communities
d) Increased knowledge on effects of child marriage and benefits of education among children, parents and community /traditional leaders.
e) Increased number of girls accessing SRH services from health facilities
f) Increased assertiveness among the safe space participants

2.0 Objectives of the Assignment

  • Document best practices arising from implementing this project
  • Write stories of change from project beneficiaries

3.0 Deliverables

The following are expected upon completion of the task:

  • Booklet containing best practices and stories of change on the ending child marriage project

4.0 Skills and Qualifications Required

  • Minimum of a degree in Media Studies or Social Sciences. Higher qualification will be an added advantage
  • Proven experience in undertaking a similar assignment
  • Significant experience of collecting and analyzing qualitative information/data
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Proficiency in English and local languages (Nyanja, Bemba and Kaonde)
  • Knowledge on issues of GBV, especially on child marriage

5.0 Bid Requirements

Consultants who meet the requirements should submit a maximum of 10 pages expression of interest, which should include the following:

i. A suitability statement, including commitment to availability for the entire assignment
ii. A brief statement of the proposed study methodology including a detailed work plan
iii. A detailed financial proposal
iv. Curriculum vitae of consultant/s that clearly spell out qualifications and experience with at least contacts of 2 organizations that have recently contracted the consultant/s to carry out a similar assignment
