Position Title: Camara Zambia Programmes Manager

Reporting to: The Director of African Operations

Location: CZM Hub Lusaka with travel to schools and locations across Zambia as required for activities

Contract: Full-time, 12 month contract (with possibility of extension)

Start Date: October 2022

The Role 

The role of Programmes Coordinator is to lead the Camara Zambia team to ensure all project activities are completed and achieve the organisation’s strategic objectives in Zambia. The Programmes’ coordinator will be required to be actively involved in the overall planning, management and delivery of all operations of the hub within the required timescales.

Key Responsibilities:

Planning and Coordination: Identify, manage and coordinate project activities and timelines to support the deployment of Camara Education programmes in Zambia
Financial Management: Forecast requirements and prepare budgets; schedule expenditures; analyse variances and initiate corrective actions as well as project finance tracking and reporting
Develop and maintain project plans and associated communication documents
Oversee and provide direction to the project implementation team in the different phases of projects
Facilitate and coordinate the communication and reporting flow between Camara Zambia and Camara Education team
Oversee Country Strategic Management: coordinating and facilitating the development of Country Strategic Plans (CSPs) and Annual Country Plans (ACPs) as well as supporting other annual and multi-annual strategic processes required by CEL management team.
Provide the project management to meet project commitments in line with agreed metrics
Team Management: Recruit, train, and manage staff members and support capacity development of team.
Communications: Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and project partners/stakeholders in a clear and timely fashion.
Facilitate learning and sharing processes to ensure continued improvement of the supports offered by Camara Zambia and that activities are completed to ensure best practices.
Collate and collaborate on necessary donor and internal reporting with key Camara Education local and global staff on projects.
Develop and maintain efficient partner communications and activities through active participation in management team meetings, technical, and education calls
Providing monthly updates and any other management group tasks for Camara Zambia projects to senior management, project partners and funders.
Business development- oversee new marketing initiatives for the social enterprise activities of the hub. Increasing the value of current clients while attracting new ones, to improve sales
Any other Camara Education PMO supportive tasks as agreed with the supervisor

Proven experience of managing large scale projects working alongside national and international partners and ability to demonstrate successful financial management of projects
Strong ability to resolve problems and determine system improvements whilst working to tight deadlines
Knowledge and experience of the Project Cycle and the management tools for effective implementation.
Knowledge of Monitoring and Evaluation framework
Good understanding of the Zambian education and development context
Excellent communication skills to establish and maintain positive working relationships with schools, partners, government, staff, and key stakeholders
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Personal commitment to organisational excellence; displays honesty, integrity, and a strong sense of ethics in all decision and actions
Is resilient; remains calm and deliberate under conditions of stress
Effective time management and ability to oversee and coordinate projects to ensure all activities are implemented within timescales.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

Educated to a degree level (essential) in education, development, ICT or another relevant subject area.
4 years+ Project/Programme management experience (essential)
At least 2 years experience in positions of leadership and staff management
Demonstrable experience in donor relationship management, including grant management, proposal and report writing, ideally within the humanitarian context and/or with the major institutional donors.
Show an understanding of policies, practices, and priorities of major institutional donors
A track record of managing complex projects; with experience in financial management and donor compliance issues.
Experience in data management & analysis with demonstrable capacity for delivering accurate work on time in a dynamic and multi-priority context.
Must have previous experience working in a developing country (essential)
Fluent in English (essential)
Knowledge of local Zambian languages an advantage
