Camco Demonstration Farms Limited is a member of the CAMCO GROUP. Camco Group was established in 1998 and is headquartered in Shanghai, China. Camco is one of the largest suppliers of machinery in markets we operate in Africa which include Cameroon, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania and Zambia these being; agricultural equipment, construction equipment, heavy duty equipment, power generation equipment, motor vehicles and more. In the quest to diversify its business portfolio, Camco Group has ventured into commercial farming as well, therefore, we now seek to appoint suitably qualified candidates in the following positions at our Serenje Farm Block: –
1. POSITION: FARM SUPERVISOR-CROP MANAGEMENT (01)
We are seeking a highly experienced Commercial Farm Manager to be responsible for crop life cycle from land preparation all the way through to harvesting and storage ensuring the expected yield is achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring optimal crop production through effective planning, monitoring, and execution of agricultural practices.
- Work closely with farm workers and other management staff to maintain high standards of crop health, yield, and overall farm productivity.
- Develop and implement crop management plans, including planting schedules, fertilization, irrigation, and pest control.
- Monitor crop health and growth, and take corrective actions as needed to ensure optimal yields.
- Coordinate with agricultural experts to select and apply appropriate crop protection products and practices.
- Supervise and train farm workers and seasonal laborers in crop management techniques and safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of crop planting, growth, and harvest activities.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on crop performance, labor utilization, and resource usage.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field preferred; relevant experience in a commercial farm may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in a commercial farm block.
- Flexibility to work extended hours during peak seasons or as needed.
2. POSITION: MECHANIC-AGRO EQUIPMENT (01)
The job holder will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of all farm agro-equipment ranging from tractors, ploughs, sprayers, harvesters etc. Ensuring they are in functioning in good condition and reduce the down time for best operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance on agricultural machinery, including tractors, combines, planters, and harvesters.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in farm equipment.
- Conduct pre-season and post-season inspections to ensure equipment is ready for operation and to address any wear and tear.
- Assist in the installation and setup of new machinery and equipment.
- Ensure proper calibration and adjustment of equipment for optimal performance.
- Train farm staff on the correct use and maintenance of new equipment.
- Maintain an inventory of spare parts and tools required for equipment repairs.
- Order parts and supplies as needed, ensuring timely availability of critical components.
- Keep accurate records of parts usage and repairs performed.
- Ensure that all equipment complies with safety and regulatory standards.
- Document maintenance and repair activities, including details of work performed and parts used.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Diploma in Auto mechanics, HER or related studies; formal training in agricultural mechanics will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in machinery maintenance and repair, with a focus on agricultural equipment will be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and machinery repair tools.
- Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems commonly used in farm equipment.
3. WELDER (01)
The job holder should be a skilled and motivated Welder with hands-on experience in various welding techniques and a strong commitment to quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform welding operations.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Maintain and repair welding equipment and tools.
- Inspect welds to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Welder or similar role.
- Certification in welding.
- Proficiency in using welding tools and machinery.
- Strong understanding of welding techniques and safety practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
