Our client in the logistics and transportation industry is currently seeking to hire a Workshop Manager
1.Position – Workshop Manager
-Reports to the General Manager.
-Directly responsible for reducing fleet running costs through a cost-effective utilization of the existing assets and a thorough preventative maintenance system.
-Responsible for the maintenance of vehicles, in setting up and managing workshop operational activities.
-Manages and supervises all workshops staff.
Responsibilities
-Controls and monitors transport expenditure (maintenance, repairs, tyres, fuel, oil) for the whole fleet.
-Ensures that maintenance of trucks is carried out as per manufacturer’s recommendations and schedule.
-Ensures the safety of all workshops staff by implementing a sound workshop maintenance safety system in consultation with HSEQ department.
-Carries out truck inspections and ensures that repairs arising thereof are effectively done.
-Ensures that trucks comply with international safety requirements and local regulations.
-Carries out preventive maintenance on all trucks through pre-planned maintenance programs.
-Carries out workshop staff training (inspections, repairs, preventative maintenance, servicing and use of workshop tools etc).
-Investigates causes of vehicle breakdowns and takes corrective action to prevent re-occurrence.
-Ensures quick truck turn around by planning and scheduling workshop staff duties.
-Produces maintenance programs and adhering to them.
-Make sure all scheduled services are carried out as per programme
-Carries out scrap tyre analysis and action plan.
Requirements
-Completion of recognized engineering degree or trade motor mechanics.
-At least five years’ experience in workshop management capacity.
-Knowledge in maintenance, repair and servicing of most heavy vehicle trucks
-Knowledge in maintenance, repair and servicing of fuel tankers an added advantage
