Job summary
Reports to Senior Strategic Information Officer. The incumbent is responsible for development of data collection tools, aggregating and management of data for various programmatic performance monitoring and research studies. He/she will also be responsible for coordination with partner organizations to support data management projects.
Main duties
- Designs and develops data collection tools for the programmatic and research projects.
- Designs and creates routine performance monitoring tools and reports.
- Ensures that weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for supported projects are submitted on time.
- Extracts routine and ad hoc datasets for programmatic and research studies.
- Develops SOPs for handling research and programme data.
- Participates in data collection and QA/QI activities.
- Takes part in departmental planning activities.
- Mentors Data Coordinators, Data Associates, and Research Assistants in efficient ways to manipulate and use data.
- Mentors Data Coordinators, Data Associates, and Research Assistants on the definition of all performance monitoring indicators.
- Participates in the presentation of data to various internal and external stakeholders.
- Trains staff on data collection and entry procedures and common errors/problems within the clinic and at other sites as requested.
- Performs basic to intermediate statistical analysis on programme and research datasets to meet donor and reporting requirements.
- Coordinates with staff from other organizations to conduct requirements gathering and provide technical support for health information systems supported by CIDRZ.
Qualifications
- Degree in Computing/ICT, Mathematics, Engineering, or related subject
- 3 years relevant experience
- Experience in an M&E team working on PEPFAR MER indicators will be an added advantage.
- Database querying and management in any RDBMS, e.g. SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres etc.
- Medium to advanced skills in any data analysis tool e.g. R, STATA, Excel etc.
- Medium to advanced software programming skills in an object oriented or functional programming language.
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
