Job Overview:
Chana Lodge is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Chef to manage the daily operations of our canteen. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a diverse and appealing menu, budgeting for meals for approximately 45 people, ensuring kitchen cleanliness, overseeing staff, and maintaining stock control. The Head Chef will also be responsible for pricing, food quality, and ensuring an excellent dining experience for all guests and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
Menu Planning & Development: Design creative and balanced meal options catering to diverse dietary needs. Ensure meals are nutritious, well-presented, and cost-effective.
Budgeting & Cost Control: Plan and manage food budgets, keeping meal costs within the set financial framework without compromising quality.
Food Preparation & Quality Assurance: Supervise and actively participate in food preparation, ensuring high-quality meals.
Pricing Strategy: Establish fair pricing strategies for meals while ensuring profitability and affordability.
Cleanliness & Hygiene: Maintain high sanitation standards and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
Staff Management: Lead, train, and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring smooth daily operations and fostering a professional working environment.
Stock Control & Inventory Management: Oversee food stock, order supplies, and manage waste to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
Canteen Operations: Ensure seamless day-to-day operations of the canteen, delivering exceptional service and high-quality food.
Reporting & Communication: Provide regular reports to the Lodge Manager regarding budgeting, stock levels, staff performance, and overall kitchen operations.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Chef in a busy establishment.
Strong knowledge of menu planning, budgeting, and cost control.
Excellent cooking and food presentation skills.
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Attention to detail with a focus on food hygiene and cleanliness.
Ability to handle stock control and inventory management effectively.
Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with management.
Problem-solving mindset and ability to work under pressure.
Flexible and adaptable, with a passion for hospitality.
Qualifications & Experience:
A diploma or degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or a related field is preferred.
At least 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.
Certification in Food Safety & Hygiene is an added advantage.
