JOB OPPORTUNITIES

The Southern Provincial Health Office under the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) Project through a Cooperative Agreement (CoAg) with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is seeking for eligible, self-motivated and qualified applicants for the positions listed below for the various levels (Provincial, District, Facility and Community)

(B) DISTRICT LEVEL

JOB TITLE: CLINICAL MENTORS (05 POSITIONS)

Purpose: The District HIV/ TB Clinical Mentor will work in collaboration with the District Medical staff in designated clinics to mentor facilities staff to provide quality patient care and support the clinical management of HIV infected individuals including the provision of anti-retroviral therapy (ART). The District HIV/TB Clinical Mentor will also work with SPHO technical staff to address and improve all issues affecting the quality of the care, provide mentorship and supervision as well as Technical support to facility staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides appropriate clinical care, interprets test results and provides appropriate treatment as per Zambian ART guidelines.
  • Work with facility In-charge to support the delivery of HIV related clinical care services along with the national goal to achieve the 90:90:90 strategy.
  • Liaises with HIV/TB District Mentor to support the delivery of HIV-related services in all areas of support within designated catchment area.
  • Supports the prevention and Control of HIV/ TB activity strategies at facility level and provides feedback to the district and Provincial Health Office team.
  • Works in collaboration with the HIV/TB District Mentor to provide mentorship and capacity building for smooth implementation of quality clinical care services.
  • Works with the Public Health Specialist to ensure high quality screening for HIV/TB and STI treatment according to national guidelines.
  • Responsible for coordinating with Laboratory focal point person to ensure rapid turnaround of Lab results or missing samples and documentation of results put on patients files.
  • Works with Clinic Staff to identify and carry out Quality improvement projects.
  • Supports the facility teams in organizing patient flow as well as data flow ensuring minimum standard of record keeping.
  • Organize monthly Clinical and Quality Improvement meetings. Establish a system of identifying, recording and tracking critical lab results.
  • Work with facility staff to improve phlebotomy techniques, labelling and storing of specimens, and other problems related with lab logistics.
  • Work with pharmacists to ensure the supply chain of commodities is not interrupted.
  • Compiles weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports from the clinic and share with the HIV/TB District Mentor and Provincial Health Office.
  • Perform any other duties as maybe assigned by the supervisor.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Grade Twelve (12) Certificate with Five (5) O’ Levels
  • Diploma in Clinical Medical Sciences
  • Must be registered with the Health Practitioners Council of Zambia
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in clinic environment
  • Trained in Adult and/or Peadiatric ART management with clinical experience in ART
  • Good understanding of the HIV/AIDS technical areas
  • Must be computer literate and have a valid practicing license.
  • Must have strong understanding of the reporting hierarchy at district and facility levels;
  • Good Communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Must have high level of confidentiality and Integrity;
  • Trustworthy and Honest with traceable references.
