Position Description

The Clinics4All Community Mobilisation Coordinator will coordinate and implement Healthcare change and social mobilisation interventions. The Community Mobilisation Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all national community strategies/activities and provide technical support for operationalizing the systems in the provincial offices and the local communities to mobilize efforts on the ground. Through regular visits to field, s/he will provide guidance to Provincial as well as District offices and Community Champions including the Champion Mentors. S/he will coordinate mobilization programs, including the planning, preparation and delivery of sessions, special workshops and training’s (including peer education training’s), meetings, and other interventions, as required. S/he will identify community-based volunteers and other community-based facilitators, and provide support for the implementation of program activities, including ensuring the development of action plans.

Clinics4All is seeking applicants for a proposed Community Mobilization Coordinator for the anticipated Clinics4All projects in Zambia. The Community Mobilization Coordinator will lead Clinics4All’s work to mobilize communities to support various healthcare activities and encourage public health issues. The position will be based in Lusaka and will oversee work in the provinces of Northern, Muchinga, Eastern, Southern and Luapula provinces.

This position is contingent upon award of the project by the donor and has an anticipated start date of April 2019.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight to strategies on community implementation, technical support, mentoring, and training.
  • To provide guidance and supervision to the Clinics4All team in promoting uptake of the range of  health products and services including ART, TB, HTC, FP and Nutrition.
  • Identify capacity building needs of all Clinics4All staff including Champions and Champion Mentors and work with the Provincial / District Coordinators to address these needs.
  • Design and implement mechanisms that will increase uptake and utilization of services and products including ART/TB services, HTC (including community-based testing for children, FP, Nutrition and other Healthcare products.
  • Provide technical support on how to work with traditional leaders, and other community leaders in building systems to facilitate sustained demand and utilization of Clinics4All services at the designated locations.
  • Promote working with health facilities at district level to identify potential community sites for mobilisation and coordination of Healthcare activities.
  • Conduct community mapping and needs assessment surveys and identification of community-based interventions in close collaboration with District Coordinators.
  • Promote collaboration with relevant community-based groups and facilitate links and collaborative working relationships, including the DATF, Positive living and other relevant CBOs, as well as community, workplace or faith-based organizations.
  • Work closely with other project technical experts on all project activities.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in social science or education or related discipline
  • A minimum of eight years demonstrated experience in community mobilization and engagement in Zambia
  • Knowledge of and experience in working with private and/or local partners and other government agencies
  • Proven strong leadership skills and experience in leading and/or facilitating a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise, negotiate with key stakeholders including and other implementing agencies
  • Proven ability to write reports, reviews, program documents, conduct presentations and fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Power-point, Internet, etc.
  • Cultural sensitivity
  • Experience with Donor funded (USAID, DFID, SIDA and UNICEF) projects highly preferred.
