Lumwana Mining Company Limited (LMC), a copper mining company owned by Barrick Gold Corporation is situated in the North Western region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km south west of the provincial capital of Solwezi. The mine is a multi-pit, multi staged operation mining approximately 100MT of ore and waste per annum and producing copper concentrates containing an average of 120,000 tonnes of copper metal per year over a twenty (20) year mine life, making Lumwana the largest single open cut copper mine in Africa. The Company is now looking for highly committed and qualified individuals to be considered for the position of Coordinator – Ancillary.

Role Summary

Reporting to the Superintendent – Ancillary, you will be responsible for Improving the reliability and availability of the mobile equipment. Identify, develop and implement improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and effectiveness of mobile maintenance operations processes. Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities

Execute planned inspections, component changeouts and corrective work to defined OEM and LMC standards.
Develop the skills and competencies of the work team members.
Develop and deploy health, safety and environment improvement plans.
Manage costs within budget by ensuring that all maintenance activities are managed efficiently to reduce costs.
Cooperate with the maintenance planners regarding input schedules and accurate information.
Carry out planned maintenance and breakdown repairs on mining fleet.
Analyse equipment performance to identify opportunities to improve uptime and maximise the performance of the assets.
Ensuring any Statutory Responsibilities are executed and overseeing registered equipment inspections and servicing.
Participating in scheduling and coordinating major component change outs
Driving the development and utilisation of best practise maintenance business processes
Assisting in the development of a continuous improvement culture within the section
Deploy Management of Change processes by initiating management of change requests for any plant and equipment change.

Experience & Qualifications

Grade 12 Certificate
Diploma in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering or Advanced Certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair.
Minimum of 10 years mining experience, working with Heavy Earthmoving Equipment maintenance.
Demonstrated experience of leading teams.
Demonstrated experience in developing the skills and competencies of people.
Demonstrated competency in fault finding, root cause analysis (RCA) and defect elimination processes applicable to large scale drilling equipment.
Awareness of condition monitoring techniques inclusive of oil condition, thermography, vibration analysis, thickness testing, ultrasonic testing
Holder of a valid driver’s Licence.
Member of Engineering Institution of Zambia
