About Us
Our client is a local start-up hair products company specializing in organic hair products. The products are yummy scented butters that provide the right nutrients to grow healthy hair. These include Shea and Coconut Oil butters, Mango and Cocoa Butter, Avocado and Mafura butter and a hair tonic.
Our Ask
We are looking for an experienced cosmetic chemist who will help with the validation of the formula for a hair product. The goal is to mass-produce a natural yet very effective hair treatment to promote hair growth. We therefore need someone with knowledge on natural/organic ingredients and what works best in cosmetics. Our client wants the product to nourish the hair and also reduce damage. They are looking to use pharmaceutical grade products while staying within the price point of my competitors.
The best candidate should also be able to:
- analyze ingredient labels on existing natural & organic products. (We would be assisting in this)
- judge the safety of these products (are the ingredients contaminated with other chemicals, are they gluten-free, vegan, nut-free etc?)
Qualification
The consultant should have at least a BSc in Chemistry or Biochemistry, three years of experience and working knowledge of cosmetic hair products industry.
The Take Away
The consultant should, at the end of the assignment, provide us with the following:
- A detailed chemical description of the product, including technical information for the label
- A detailed statement of the benefits of using the product
- Testing to ensure product quality and safety
- Mass production recommendations
- Recommendations for future variations of the product
- Determine what natural preservatives can be used to extend product shelf life
