CHIEF SALES AND MARKETING OFFICER – Telecommunications, Lusaka, Zambia
Our client, a Telecommunications and ICT infrastructure company seeks to recruit for the role of Chief Sales and Marketing Officer to be responsible for formulating and implementing customer-centric commercial strategies, customize and implement new products, packaging, pricing models, provide cross-functional communications, manage overall customer satisfaction and drive revenue growth for both new and existing customers.

Reporting To: Chief Executive Officer
Supervision Of: Sales and Marketing Team
Interacts With: Management, Clients, Employees, Customers, External Contacts


Strategic leadership:

Develop the overall Sales and marketing strategy – Deliver strategic leadership for defining the Sales and Marketing path to growth and profitability of the company and the establishment of an effective growth process and infrastructure. Develop collaborative working relationships within the organization in pursuit of the company’s overall business goals.
Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic plans


Develop annual and quarterly Marketing strategy – Lead the development of the company’s marketing strategy with an emphasis on achieving market penetration and sales growth with a particular emphasis on cost-effective customer acquisition and market demand generation
Develop an annual branding strategy
Develop products/value added services


Develop and implement the company’s sales strategy across key market segments to ensure that the company identifies and optimizes a clear path to aggressive growth. Assess, build and manage an array of necessary channels capable of delivering on the company’s growth objectives.

Revenue & Opex Budget:

Efficiently optimize utilization of the budgets. Keep Net Acquisition costs and other commercial related cost under control to ensure that EBITDA margins across regions are sustained

People Management:

Provide leadership and direction to the Sales and marketing Team
Ensure that all departmental staff have their performance contracts developed and performance appraisals conducted as scheduled
Improve communication skills and capability of Team Staff
Ensure Sales and Marketing Team works with other departments to deliver timely and informative business reports


Experience: 10 years
Education Level: Degree
Qualifications: Hold a University degree and possess an advanced degree and / or an MBA as a requirement
Software: MS Office
Equipment: Job related
Knowledge Of: Demonstrated experience in developing executing successful commercialization strategies. Managerial experience in a GSM/mobile company. Successful background with stakeholder management
Skills To: Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills; Strong leadership skills; Strong and demonstrated strategic thinking skills
Ability To: Ability to think creatively and develop non-traditional solutions to complex business challenges
Other Requirements: Telecom Experience at Executive Level. 5 years in a commercial role at senior management level
