WORK HOURS: Full-Time, 40 Hours/Week

The Eastern Provincial Health Office under the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) Project through a Cooperative Agreement (CoAg) with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the positions listed to be employed on a one-year contract basis.

DISTRICT LABORATORY SERVICES COORDINATOR (8 Positions)

Location: Chipata, Sinda, Katete, Petauke, Nyimba, Lundazi, Chadiza and Mambwe Districts.

Job Purpose: To strengthen HIV and TB laboratory diagnostic services and Laboratory Logistics management systems in the district.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Ensures that appropriate testing systems are used timely for each of the tests performed in the laboratory to provide quality laboratory results for proper patient management
  • Coordinates Implementation of policy guidelines and adherence to Laboratory Quality Management Systems (QMS) activities in order to provide accurate results as per guidelines.
  • Provides regular updates in laboratory services in order to impart appropriate knowledge and skills to other staff.
  • Conducts routine program Monitoring and reviews to track progress towards set targets and for program implementation improvement.
  • Provides mentorship in various laboratory services in facilities in collaboration with the province.
  • Coordinates timely reporting and requisitioning of laboratory commodities to reduce stock outs and wastages
  • Coordinates certification of HIV testers in accordance with the national certification program and maintains data base of the testers.
  • Monitoring and performing Proficiency Testing (PT) of all HIV, Viral load, EID, CD4, GeneXpert, TB microscopy samples as required by statutory bodies.
  • Manages movement of viral load, EID and TB samples using available courier system in order to reduce time taken on patient attendance and improve on care.

Required, Qualification, Skills and Experience:

  • Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate with five (5) credits or better
  • A degree in Biomedical Sciences or higher is required.
  • At least three (3) years of relevant work experience in the field of TB and HIV control activities with at least one year in a supervisory role.
  • Experience with recording, reporting and other monitoring and evaluation activities
  • Computer literate, with high competency in using Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoin
