Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) is inviting suitably qualified and experienced persons for the position of Project Manager, District Manager, M&E Officer, Finance and Operations Manager and project leaders for the Farmer’s Club (R4) project in Southern Province. DAPP Farmers Club is implementing a Rural Resilience Initiative Project which is a global strategic partnership between the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) with support from Swiss Development Agency (SDC) to enable vulnerable rural households to increase their food and income security in the context of increasing climate risks. The Initiative is built on an innovative model that combines four risk management strategies (R4): (1) disaster risk reduction, (2) micro insurance, (3) access to credit, and (4) savings. The R4 Rural Resilience Initiative started operating in Zambia in 2014.

District Manager

Duty Station: stationed in Monze district, Southern province.

Responsibilities:

Ensure that project objectives, outcomes and outputs are achieved within the budget, specified quality and schedule.

  • Staff supervision and field activity implementation
  • Engagement line government ministries, private sector NGOs, FBOs and CBO.
  • Collaborate with partners and ensure that partner requirements, financial management, budgeting and reporting guidelines are adhered to.
  • Technically lead the development activities and roll out the R4 Project.
  • Manage and coordinate the team members and staff as well as provide technical advice to ensure the tasks are implemented within budget and schedule.
  • Co-ordinate with the project manager for effective implementation of the project;
  • Supervise 18 multi-disciplinary project field staff
  • To work with project staff to come up with detailed implementation Management Plans;
  • Facilitate and organize field visits of various stakeholders for effective implementation and support to ensure sustainability;
  • Develop, maintain and coordinate with local partners (community, NGO, international bodies and District Management Authorities), to ensure the successful implementation of the project activities;
  • Provide regular and follow up support to Farmers Clubs activities;
  • The District Extension officer will report directly to the Provincial Coordinator

Required Qualifications:

  • Diploma in one of the following or related fields; Agronomy, General Agriculture Sciences, Agricultural Extension and Natural Resources Management.
  • At least five (5) years of professional experience in an agriculture project of similar nature.
  • Demonstrated and proven management skills
  • Good understanding of concepts and issues on weather index
  • Knowledge of and experience in Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices
  • Knowledge in micro saving, financing techniques
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent team player
