National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council

In its continued efforts to provide leadership for a coordinated multisectoral response to HIV and AIDS, the National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council (NAC) invites suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions based at the Secretariat in Lusaka:


Job Purpose            

Reporting to the Administrative Assistant, the driver is responsible to drive, maintain and secure the safety of institution’s motor vehicles for mobility of materials and officers so as to enhance the overall achievement of the institution’s objectives.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Drives carefully the vehicles allocated so as to ensure the safety and timely movement of officers and materials in order to facilitate smooth operations of NAC
  • Undertakes regular road worthiness inspections of vehicles to avoid road traffic accidents and unnecessary trips and expenses
  • Completes promptly log-books and seeks authorization of all trips to be undertaken in order to keep records on the movement of vehicles so as to avoid unnecessary trips and expenses
  • Reports timely the occurrence of road traffic accidents in order that remedial actions are promptly taken
  • Works with the Administrative Assistant to ensure that insurance claims are timely submitted and followed to the later
  • Ensures an updated database of NAC fleet is available on monthly basis
  • Reports timely to the Administrative Assistant on repairs and maintenance to be undertaken from time to time
  • Prepares motor vehicle maintenance schedule on monthly basis and whenever required
  • Maintains a register on the movement of vehicles to account for local and distant errands all the time
  • Delivers mails on behalf of the institution from as required from time to time
  • Ensures cleanliness of institutional vehicles all the time
  • Performs any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

  • Has passes or better at Grade Twelve (12) level
  • Valid Driver’s License – minimum of Class C
  • Knowledge of basic motor vehicle mechanics is an added advantage
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in a similar position
  • Experience with donor-funded projects is an added advantage
  • Able to handle a variety of assignments sometimes under pressure due to competing deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrates knowledge of economic use of vehicles
