About The Organization

Caritas Chipata is a faith based organization, established by the Catholic Diocese of Chipata to promote integral human development, economic justice, human dignity and empowerment of the less privileged in the society. Caritas Chipata envisions an Eastern province where people are able to move out of poverty and create sustainable livelihoods for themselves as a result of improved policies, structures and services, increased participation by local people and accountable leaders who work for the common good. To obtain this Caritas Chipata has two strategic programs:

1. Catholic Commission for Development (CCD)
2. Catholic Commission for Justice & Peace (CCJP)

The Organisation seeks to employ qualified persons to fill the following position;

Position Title: Driver, GIZ Fanser

Work station: Within the community: Petauke & Katete

Number of Positions: Two

Primary Responsibility;

Ensure safe, efficient and timely transport to employees of Caritas and maintenance of the vehicles of Caritas.

Key Activities/Responsibilities

• Drive GIZ Project vehicle and or any other Caritas/Diocesan vehicle assigned to you.
• Notify the Administrative Officer, Director and or the senior driver if you feel that vehicles in use should be withdrawn due to faults which may compromise safety
• Maintain the vehicle in good working condition by taking control of both minor and major repairs
• Check the vehicle before starting the engine every morning
• Maintain high standard of cleanliness of Caritas/partners Vehicles
• Keep record of due times for minor and major services and taking the vehicle for service
• Complete the vehicle log book at the start and end of the day according to description
• Park  the vehicle at a legal and secure parking designated areas both within and outside Chipata Diocese
• Enforce all security devices available in the car when parking
• Observe at all times traffic regulations to avoid traffic penalties
• Readily available for extra-assignments by the Director or his delegate.
• To be available for task delegated to you by Programme/ Administration Staff

Qualifications

• Full grade 12 school certificate
• Valid class C driving license
• Auto mechanics certificate

Experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar job at an established organisation
• Experience with driving in different vehicles including 4WD’s

Competencies

• Good command of English and local language
• Communication skills
• Reliability

Other

• No driving under the influence of alcohol (don’t drive when you have taken alcohol)
• No private usage without authority of the Supervisor.
• Answerable to the officer responsible for the program currently being undertaken when driving
• Independent worker, able to work with minimal supervision
