JOB PURPOSE

Efficient and effective management of the Cash management unit in line with the policies, process and procedure of the Ecobank Zambia Limited

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Activities

  • Efficient and effective management of the Cash management unit.
  • Ensure that all incoming/outgoing MT103/MT199) are processed on a daily basis
  • Ensure that all outgoing payments through all Ecobank electronic payment channels (Ecobank online, OBDX, iBPS etc.) are processed on a daily basis.
  • Ensure all transfers and SWIFT messages in iBPS are cleared before close of each business day-those with issues should be escalated to the right department/Branch
  • Ensure timely resolution of all failed transaction outstanding on the Nostro accounts (no item should be outstanding for more than 48 hours)
  • Adhere to appropriate processes & procedures e.g. Key Risk Indicators (KRI’s) to control and manage the key operational risks in the Cash Management departments including errors and fraud.
  • Ensure daily, monthly and quarterly Departmental Control Function Checklists are submitted to the Head Operations Control.
  • Keep abreast with local, regional and international market developments around Cash Management products and ensure that Ecobank stays ahead of these development
  • Management of the Clearing unit (Cheque clearing and Electronic funds transfer)
  • Monitor and review clearing GLs on daily basis ensuring that no items are outstanding for more the 48 hours
  • Manage reconciliation and proofing of Clearing GLs
  • Authorization of clearing, EFT(DDACC) and SWIFT payments
  • Must be the first contact for all cash management operations products
  • Manage succession plan, training and coaching of the unit

JOB PROFILE

Experience & Qualifications

  • 3 years experience in a supervisory role in Operations Department preferably cash management operations with exposure to a variety of business functions.
  • Good knowledge of banking practice and theory, rules and policies and local regulations.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the concepts of Cash Management products and their uses
  • Proper understanding of SWIFT messaging formats and standards
  • Good understanding of clearing and inter-bank payment systems
  • Minimum of a University Degree

Skills, Capabilities & Personal attributes

  • Demonstrated ability to work with team members from other areas e.g. the front office business to accomplish common objectives
  • Ability to work on many tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to carry out the responsibilities of this position with little direction
  • Ability to lead by self-initiative
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Strong organization skills
