GENERAL JOB INFORMATION

JOB PURPOSE

To support affiliates position Ecobank as the leading provider of payments solutions for all businesses (micro, SME, corporates, public sector thereby growing our collections and deposit revenues. Responsible for defining all Acquiring activities for Ecobank Pay, POS & Web activities in line with the Group acquiring strategy. Candidate shall develop policies, objectives and initiatives to optimise revenue whilst positioning Ecobank digital collection business solutions for customers in collaboration with all business units/affiliates and adhering to group policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

BUSINESS & FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE

  • Responsible for end to end merchant lifecycle – planning, execution and delivery of relevant digital solutions to merchants including EcobankPay, Web and POS, to improve customer experience and grow revenue.
  • Work with business and product managers to deliver the best digital experience for our customers
  • Ensure affiliate distribution is optimised leveraging continuous customer analysis/engagement, identify & execute commercial/market initiatives for incremental volume/revenue/profit
  • Lead execution of group merchant acquiring strategy in Zambia
  • Deliver agreed revenue and service quality targets for merchant acquiring
  • Develop and manage appropriate pricing and packaging of merchant solutions to meet revenue goals
  • Ensure at least 80% of merchants are active merchants i.e. >=minimum 20 transactions a month
  • Ensure compliance with group merchant branding requirements
  • Manage merchant roll-out, increasing profitability of existing merchants whilst developing new solutions as needed in Zambia
  • Provide in-depth market competitive analysis to guide decision making for merchant acquisition
  • Support all business units i.e. Corporate, Commercial and Consumer Banking to best deploy Ecobank Pay
  • Conduct regular merchant visits, especially high-volume merchants to keep and grow our business
  • Ensure revenue is well tracked for all digital collections
  • Ensure 24/7 helpdesk support for merchants

CUSTOMER MANAGEMENT

  • Support Commercial and Corporate Bank RMs to sell digital collection services to customers
  • Ensure customer satisfaction to grow Ecobank share or wallet
  • Maintain excellent communication to support the resolution of issues
  • Build a strong support network for merchants across Zambia branch network to enhance cross functional collaboration and achieve sales targets
  • Build and manage merchant acquiring team
  • Build and maintain good relationships with bank partners/vendors supporting initiatives in Zambia
  • Be digital solutions thought leader in Zambia to build and grow Ecobank brand equity in Zambia

PROCESS CONTROL & OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE

  • Promote integrity and ethical conduct to ensure good team culture is built and felt within Ecobank Zambia and among our customers
  • Ensure merchant onboarding criteria and process are followed, especially for POS and Web merchants, to minimize operational losses, franchise risks as well as monitor adequacy and effectiveness
  • Own merchant acquiring performance in line with group standards
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and scheme requirements, audits and any other credit or governance directives.
  • Comply with all group policies and procedures
  • Identify and pre-empt risks in the business
  • Ensure all settlements, proofs and reconciliations are up to date across the affiliate

JOB PROFILE

Experience & Qualifications

  • Candidate should have 3-5 years of product development/ management, excellent interpersonal skills, strong execution and technical skills
  • Relevant experience with at least three years in Transaction Banking, Technology or Operations
  • Minimum of a University Degree

  • Good interpersonal skills to drive teamwork and work effectively in cross cultural, cross geographical teams to drive value for our clients and the bank
  • Customer focussed and results oriented
  • Good project management including understanding and planning for operational risk
  • Knowledge of banking operations, operational risk management and service delivery
  • Distribution Management and/or Channel Management experience is an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • General knowledge of acquiring sales and solutions services
