Evelyn Hone College

Evelyn Hone College of Applied Arts and Commerce is the largest Technical Education and Vocational Training (TEVET) Institutions under the Ministry of Technology and Science (MoTS). The institution is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following positions:

1.0     Lecturer – Environmental Health x 01

Main Duties

  • Undertakes the delivery of lectures in accordance with the Environmental Health curricula in order to impart knowledge to students
  • Undertakes student’s assessment, research supervision, and maintenance of performance records in order to determine effectiveness of the level of lecturing
  • Prepares schemes of work and lesson plans in order to ensure efficient delivery of lectures
  • Prepares teaching aids and lecture materials in order to improve the effectiveness of lectures.
  • Undertakes research and consultancy in the relevant field in order to contribute to the body of knowledge and promote best practice

Minimum Qualifications

  • Full Form V/ Grade 12 Certificate
  • BSc. In Environmental Health. A Master’s Degree will be an added advantage
  • Qualification in Teaching Methodology is a must with at least 2 years work experience
  • Computer literacy ( word, excel, power point packages)
  • Ability to work with minimum Supervision
  • Good interpersonal skills, A team player, good organizer, honest and highly professional

2.0     Laboratory Assistant – Biomedical Engineering x 01

Main Duties

  • Carries out laboratory experiments and demonstrations, prepares samples, and produces accurate and reliable data
  • Undertakes the laboratory quality assurance program based on best practices in the industry
  • Ensures that lab equipment is maintained, cleaned and calibrated.
  • Maintains adequate records on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis of all laboratory activities
  • Ensures that the laboratory is kept clean at all times
  • Ensures the proper storage of chemicals and equipment
  • Ensures health and safety practices are followed in the laboratory

Minimum Qualifications

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate
  • Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology. A Degree will be an added advantage
  • Demonstrable work experience of at least one year
  • Computer Literate
  • Ability to work with minimum Supervision
  • Good interpersonal skills, A team player, good organizer, honest and highly professional

3.0  Resident Engineer x 01

The Resident Engineer plays a crucial role in the maintenance works in the College, through monitoring and supervision of contractors hired by the College and serves as advisor to Management on infrastructure development and maintenance.

Major Responsibilities

  • Superintends over all Engineering and Maintenance activities within the College
  • Oversees the general maintenance works, electrical works, water works, and cleanliness of the College surroundings.
  • Supervises and manages the daily activities of artisans and general workers
  • Manages the prudent use of materials, equipment, and personnel from the Maintenance Unit
  • Conducts regular inspections of infrastructure such as Student Hostels, Classrooms, Offices, Ablution areas and resolves any issues found therein
  • Coordinates the construction and rehabilitation activities in the College.
  • Responsible for monitoring and supervision of contractors hired by the College.
  • Monitors progress of work and maintains work schedules.
  • Prepares monthly and quarterly reports on activities regarding Maintenance in the College.
  • Carries out regular/planned maintenance activities of College infrastructure.
  • Participate in design, resource mobilization and carry out works on College infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Full Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering related field
  • A Masters degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering will be an added advantage.
  • Functional Computer literacy and practical knowledge of Engineering Design and Analysis software’s such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Prokon or Autodesk Revit will be an added advantage.
  • At least three (03) years practical experience in Civil or Mechanical Engineering with demonstrable capacity to supervise Civil Engineering Works.
  • Must be a fully paid up member of the Engineers Institute of Zambia (EIZ) and with a valid Practicing License.
