JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT: Human Resource Officer

Expanded Church Response (ECR) is a faith-based organization implementing OVC, GBV, HIV/AIDS, and other programs to mitigate human suffering and bring transformational development. ECR has implemented programs funded by USAID, European Union, UNICEF, and Global Fund either directly or through a range of highly regarded local and international organizations. Working with partners like these, the private sector, faith leaders, traditional leaders, and government, we are seeing communities awakened to new ways to improve quality of life for the most vulnerable and strengthened to become the force to forge their own transformation.

Human Resource Officer (HRO)

ECR is seeking a qualified, self-driven, efficient, and innovative candidate with a passion for awakening potential in others, to fill in the position of Human Resource Officer (HRO). Must be organized, have a keen sense of fairness, ability to see context and multiple perspectives, good communicator, highly skilled at problem solving and conflict management. They must have the expertise to contribute to informed recruitment and hiring decisions, competence, good character, and confidence to lead, and be a good fit in the culture of a Zambian faith-based organization with its values.

The HRO will work closely with management to make ECR a most favored, efficient, world class work setting. This will be through overseeing implementation and top-quality execution of all human resource responsibilities, including planning, recruitment, orientation, career development, training, use various means to maintain high morale and job satisfaction, and accountability actions to assure expected performance and policy adherence. The HRO will also administer compensation, benefits, performance management systems, and safety. S/he will be supporting intercompany communication, be available to staff facing various challenges, intermediary on inevitable interpersonal matters, and responsible for providing staff with information on ECR policies and conditions.

The candidate must have experience working closely with churches and other partners, conversant with their values, traditions, and ethics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or other related discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working as an HR officer
  • Experience with Swift Payroll
  • Skillful in interpersonal, time management, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Very good computer skills
