EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

SHORT TERM CONSULTANCY SERVICES FOR PRE-FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR AN INDUSTRIAL WASTE WATER TREATMENT PLANT IN THE KAFUE FLATS

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is one of the world’s largest independent conservation organisations with a global network in over 100 countries. Our mission is to stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature.

Summary of consultancy

WWF Zambia Country Office is involved in freshwater conservation efforts in focal landscapes within the Zambezi River Basin. The Kafue Flats landscape is one such landscape and is one of Zambia’s most productive systems. It provides goods and services such as clean drinking water, livestock pasture, hydropower, agriculture, fisheries, and other natural resources. With increases in population and ever competing needs the landscape is in need of strategic water investment interventions that will have a net positive impact without compromising the integrity of the system. It is the hope of WWF that through initiatives such as bankable water solutions the appropriate water infrastructure investments can be made in the landscape. Against this background, a need has arisen to conduct a pre-feasibility study for an industrial waste water treatment plant that could contribute towards improving water security and planning for sustainable water investment in the landscape.
