Free Haven Community Initiative (FHCI) is a registered poverty-alleviation Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) located in Livingstone Zambia that has four main areas of focus: Education, Health, Nutrition, and Empowerment.

We are currently searching to fill 6 Vacant Positions on Voluntary basis at FHCI:

1. Primary Teacher for Impact Sessions (2)

2. Primary Teacher for Extra Lessons (2)

3. Secondary/Literacy teacher (2)

4. Social Worker (1)

5. Mental Health Counselor (1)

6. Data Management Assistant (1)

DO NOT APPLY if you do not have a Diploma or a Degree in the Respective field.

Section I: Qualifications and Requirements:

Teaching Diploma/Degree OR

Diploma/Degree in Literacy OR

Diploma/Degree in Social Work OR

Diploma/Degree In Mental Health Counseling OR

Diploma/Degree in Information Systems/Computer Science

Section II: Requirements

For Primary/Secondary Teachers:

1. Be able to prepare a lesson plan

2. Must be able to teach lessons to large groups of students

3. Have prior experience working with children/teaching

4. Respective Practicing Certificate.

For Social Worker/Mental Health Counselor

1. Understand trauma-informed care

2. Have prior experience working with children dealing with trauma

3. Respective Practicing Certificate

For Data Management Assistant:

1. Have prior experience working with large quantities of data

2. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets and their respective formulas

3. Understand effective systems for tracking data from diverse populations

4. Maintaining the confidentiality and security of sensitive information

Section III: Roles and Responsibilities:

Primary Teachers for Impact Lessons are needed on Tuesday and Thursday from 11:00 – 15:00 to help prepare for and teach Impact Life Skills Sessions. These sessions cover important topics such as self esteem, body image, reproductive health, consent, and mental health.

Primary Teachers for Extra lessons are needed at various times throughout the week to help tutor students on the FHCI sponsorship program in literacy, numeracy and other important school subjects.

Secondary/Literacy Teachers are needed at various times throughout the week to work with students and adults on building the important literacy skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking.

A Social Worker and a Mental Health Counselor are needed to assist with group counseling sessions on Friday afternoons at a local primary school.

A Data Management Assistant is needed at various times throughout the week to assist with inputting large amounts of data into spreadsheets and manipulating the necessary formulas to ensure efficient tracking of the data.

Interview Process:

Interviews for these positions will be conducted on Friday 13 September. Shortlisted candidates will be notified and provided with further details regarding the interview process.

Volunteer Period: 

The selected candidates will be expected to start on 17 September and continue volunteering through 21 November. If this goes well then volunteers might be offered the opportunity to volunteer again in starting in January 2025.

Part-time Position:

These are part time voluntary positions with approximately 4 – 10 hours a week.

Salary Range: 

These are voluntary positions, hence no salary/financial reimbursement will be provided.
