Job Title: Accounts Assistant
Location: Solwezi
Reports to: Director

Contract Type: Fixed term contract but renewable
Job Summary:
The Accounts Officer will be responsible for managing the company’s financial records, ensuring the accuracy of accounting data, and providing financial insights for decision-making. This role involves maintaining general ledgers, preparing financial reports, processing payments, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with statutory obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Record Maintenance:
– Manage and update financial records in the accounting system.
– Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process.
– Maintain accurate records of financial transactions by establishing accounts and posting transactions.
2. Accounts Payable and Receivable:
– Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payments.
– Generate customer invoices, track receivables, and follow up on overdue payments.
– Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts related to receivables and payables.
3. Bank Reconciliation:
– Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all company accounts.
– Investigate discrepancies and prepare reports for the Finance Manager.
4. Budgeting and Forecasting:
– Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
– Monitor actuals against budget and report variances.
5. Payroll Processing:
– Assist with payroll preparation and ensure timely salary payments.
– Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
6. Financial Reporting:
– Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
– Provide management with accurate and timely financial information to aid decision-making.
7. Tax Compliance:
– Ensure the timely and accurate submission of tax returns, including VAT, income tax, and other statutory requirements.
– Assist with audits and coordinate with external auditors as needed.
8. Internal Controls:
– Support the implementation and maintenance of robust financial policies and internal controls.
– Ensure compliance with financial regulations, company policies, and procedures.
9. Other Duties:
– Provide support during audits and respond to queries from auditors.
– Handle any other accounting and administrative duties as assigned by the Finance Manager.
Qualifications:
– Education: Minimum of Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, or ZICA is an added advantage.
– Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role or related field
– Degree and above will be added advantage
Skills:
– Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
– Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
– Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
– High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
– Ability to work independently and in a team.
Competencies:
– Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively.
– Knowledge of tax laws and statutory compliance requirements.
– Strong ethics and integrity in financial management.
