Job Title: Mine Surveyor

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To assist the Chief Surveyor in carrying out and enforcing the provisions of part V of Zambia’s Mining regulations
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
Carrying out all open-pit, plant and surface/topographic surveys required before, during and after mining operations using automatic levels, total stations and differential GPS as well as associated soft wares as assigned.
Setting out, maintenance and verification of survey control stations (primary survey control) and maintain a database of all control stations in electronic format
Setting out and picking up of geological exploration, bore hole collar coordinates, elevations, inclinations and bearings
Setting out of ore mark-ups and any geological sampling position or feature
Pick up of “end-of-month” pit advances and workings and updating hard and soft copy mine plans using associated computer software as well as calculating volumes of the pit and stockpiles monthly advances
Surveying of blast area topography and setting out of blast patterns according to design from blasting engineer
Setting out of ramps and profiles, toes and crests, berms, batters, dig limits according to mine layouts from mining engineer
Setting out and surveying of any construction, site engineering works or excavation as required.
Maintaining mine license boundary lines and beacons to ensure there are no encroachments.
Maintain a repository of plans of the site, mining license plan, plant area, pits and dumps reticulation services, or any other thematic map as required. Plans being stored in electronic format and hard copies filed orderly in suitable filing cabinets
Prepare and update statutory government mine plans for submission to MSD
Pick up of all license infrastructure such as roads, plant and housing complex, electrical, water, sewer reticulation etc.
Compile monthly reports
Provide training and development opportunities for all direct reports on an on-going basis

Perform other duties as directed by the Chief Surveyor
QUALIFICATIONS
Full Grade 12 Certificate
Degree/Diploma in Surveying
Minimum Three years’ experience as Junior Surveyor in Open Pit Mine
