FUNCTION

The Project Driver will report to the Program Manager or his/her designee. He/she will provide support to the organization as it implements the strategic goals and objectives of Heifer International. He/she will be responsible for ensuring proper maintenance of THP Project vehicles and safe delivery of staff to their respective destinations. He/she will be required to conduct periodic checks of the vehicles and respond appropriately.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DELIVERABLES

A. VEHICLE MANAGEMENT (40%) 
Ensure vehicle is kept clean, tidy and in good working condition at all time.
Travel to field trips as assigned.
Run office errands.
Ensure vehicle is kept secure at all times.
Ensure vehicle is given regular/day-to-day maintenance checks: check oil, water,battery, brakes, tyres, etc.
Ensure vehicle repairs are carried out properly by official manufacturer’s specifications.
Perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs.
Perform day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicles.
Perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs.
Providing Logistical Support.

B. VEHICLE MAINTENANCE (20%)
Log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes.
Raise vehicle request forms for vehicles due for servicing.
Manage the vehicle service schedule to easily track motor vehicles that are due.
Always carry out basic safety and security checks on the vehicles before departing.
Ensure that the organization vehicles are refueled as and when required.
Maintain neat & accurate record of all journeys in the vehicle log book.

C. Administrative support (40 %)
Provide assistant to the Office of the Administrator in the time working at the office.
Delivery and collection of mail when and as required.
Ensure that the staff of the organization are driven safely to their respective destinations.
Required from time to time to assist in office cleaning and maintenance.
Perform office support functions such as messenger services and making photocopies.
Perform office day to day errands.

D. May perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 Certificate, Clean Drivers licence with at least 3 years traceable continuous driving.
Preferred Requirements

Diploma/certificate  in Auto mechanics with minimum of three years driving experience in international NGOs,Private or government institutions with clean driving record.
Most Critical Proficiencies

Good analytical skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Good driving skills.Able to undertake minor vehicle service and maintenance.
Demonstrate written and oral fluency in English.

Essential Job Functions and Physical Demands

Ability to fill in and analyze the logo book.
Ability to prepare and present  stock in in compliance Heifer international procedure
manuals.
Maintaining the highest level of vehicle cleanliness.
Willingness to contribute to Heifer International`s principle of transparency and honesty
May require constant driving extended period.
Working with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
Willingness to work with a flexible schedule
Ability to prepare and maintain schedule for vehicles.
Willingness to work up at awkward hours and perform as required.
