Purpose of the role:
Support the finance team in managing daily treasury operations and assisting in the month-end closing processes. Assist with cash management, reconciliations, and month-end reporting to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. Overseeing the use, administration, and management of all company-issued credit cards to maintain financial control and ensure compliance with internal policies while supporting HCMZ’s financial objectives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Treasury Functions:
- Monitoring and reporting daily cash flow and bank balances to ensure sufficient liquidity for operations.
- Monitor and organize any required documentation related to bank accounts, such as account opening forms, bank mandates, or signatures.
- Ensure that the necessary authorization and signatories are on file with the banks for operational or transactional purposes.
Month-End Closing Process:
- Assist with the preparation of month-end journal entries related to treasury and cash transactions.
- Reconcile accounts related to cash, bank, and other treasury-related balances.
- Where necessary, work with other departments to gather information for month-end reporting.
Company Credit Cards Management:
- Manage the application and issuance of company credit cards to eligible staff.
- Coordinate with the bank to ensure that credit limits and cards are aligned with company needs.
- Maintain and update records of all company credit card accounts, ensuring accurate documentation for all cards issued.
Loan Balances Reconciliation and Interest Charges Tracking:
- Assist in reconciling loan balances by comparing internal accounting records with lender notifications/statements.
- Ensure all loan transactions (payments, interest accruals, and adjustments) are correctly recorded in the general ledger.
- Help review and re-calculate interest charges for loan facilities based on the loan agreement terms to ensure alignment with actual interest charges.
General Accounting Support:
- Assist with various accounting tasks such as general ledger entries, payroll journals and Salary control account reconciliations.
- Process and track back-charge invoices for cost recoveries. Verify documentation supporting the back charge claims and maintain accurate financial records and audit trails.
- Processing of ZRA transactions (Payment Journals) in D365 for customs duty clearance as per adopted company procedure.

Qualifications & Experience
- Must have Grade 12 General Certificate of Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce
- A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ZICA) is desirable
- A member of ZICA.
Minimum three (3) to four (4) years’ experience - Zambia Qualifications Authority Validated Qualifications.
- Membership to the relevant body is a requirement.
Job Specific Competencies
- Knowledge of international financial reporting standards (IFRS)
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant Zambian laws and regulations.
- Experience in Fixed Assets and VAT management.
- Strong knowledge of VAT regulations and accounting principles.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and other financial reporting tools.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work within tight deadlines
Duration: Two (2) years Fixed-term contract
