Curation of a 13-Week Climate Action Radio Show

Background

The Voices for Climate Action (VCA) is an advocacy programme that seeks to scale up Zambia climate action response targeting vulnerable communities by building wide societal support for locally shaped climate solutions through an inclusive and rights-based approach. It seeks to build a broad-based climate alliance at country level (bridging the urban-rural, gender, youth divides), influence national and global policies and financial flows in support of locally shaped solutions. VCA is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and being implemented over a five-year period (2021-2025) through an alliance of five partners – Hivos, WWF Zambia, Slum Dwellers International (SDI), South South North (SSN) and Akina Mama Wa Afrika (AMwA).

Hivos plans to conduct a series of radio programs called Climate Face2Face. The aim of the radio show is to provide a platform for people’s voices to be heard about climate justice and encourage discourse and exchange of ideas around innovative local climate solutions in Zambia.

The programs will feature a variety of participants including women, youths, local leaders, traditional leaders, government, civil society, climate activists etc. This mix of panelists across the programs will ensure a diversity of voices and views on climate action. In amplifying voices for climate action, the media, especially radio media, plays a critical role by bringing into public the voices of those especially experiencing the severe impact of climate change. The show will consist of 13 curated weekly episodes. The episodes will be about 15 minutes long during a primetime slot on a local radio station with a high reach and wide coverage.
